  • Unironically yes. I want to groom them to be a wonderful, compassionate member of society with the tools to manage their mental health and ask for help when they need it.

  • I mean, kind of. Socialist/the progressive left have a toehold in our government. Bernie sanders has done a shit ton to drag the Overton window towards the left (see healthcare for just one example) both in his run for president and his time as a senator passionately arguing in favor of leftism. Our country is designed not to build coalitions with anything but the two ruling parties. It's a good thing though that there are people like AOC, who, while not as radical as Bernie and has some questionable positions, are able to become the new guard.

  • One of the earliest uses of based is by 4chan users to describe things that were Nazi adjacent or fascist that celebrities and politicians would say and do. It was "based" because the idea is that they were doing the "right" thing even though it was unpopular often doing things like being ok with needless deaths because it also meant it pushed their fascist agenda. I think op is using it ironically in this case like those 4chan cretins use it.

Since then it's been co-opted as the general Internet meme and that's how most people know it now.

  • I'll be honest, this doesn't really make sense as a response to my post. It wouldn't really matter where you or I fall on the nature vs nurture argument for my post to be relevant. (Unless one of us somehow believed it was entirely nature.)

  • It's not entirely clear what you're saying, but the sooner we acknowledge that children are inevitably formed by their environment and there's no "natural" way to let them somehow form themselves the sooner we can start discussing what is good to teach them and the correct way to do it.

  • That's a very pro-company spin on it. But on the other hand it definitely filters for people who don't mind being downright humiliated by a job that doesn't respect their time or puts effort into finding employees. This pattern of reentering your resume data is pretty brand new, and justifying it from the companies side is pretty post-hoc when it's really just offloading labor the company used to do to the unpaid job applicant who has to do this 20 times in a row.

  • We have a lot of conceptions of dinosaurs having hilariously tiny hands relative to their body. Wouldn't it make more sense if they had huge fleshy/cartilage appendages and their arms were vestigial?

  • I think it's more like if you really dig into what most religions believe, like in their leadership. It's well accepted that if you scrutinize it at all god is the unknowable all so in a way he's father son and holy Spirit and that's easy to communicate to the masses. But the truth is that any conception of a deity is so abstract that it shouldn't really be worth communicating.

  • Yes, you have correctly dissected that the joke is morbid hyperbole to cause a shock response that gives way to elation upon realization of the obvious irony in their overreaction to Einstein speaking like generation Z.
