I don't think things are getting worse. You do. It's ok that we disagree. And I don't think any of this should add to the "hate" problem that some see on Lemmy. Which is the point of OP's post.

Hate isn't the answer, even if someone's mad about whatever political environment they are in.

I'm not white, nor am I well off. Live in midsize city and never made more than $40K my entire career, and in fact made substantionaly less than that for most of it.

I lived through the 80's. Try living then and telling me that life is worse now. lol

I don't think any of that is any worse off than it was a few years ago though.

It's definitely been an adventure. I was banned from a politics sub because they thought I was an alt username from some other banned conservative person. Not because of what I posted or what I said, but because they thought I was an alt of a entirely different conservative poster. Which I'm not, by the way. lmao

But yeah, I ignore all the peer pressure here.

Lemmy isn't open to alternative voices.. yet. But I think we'll eventually get big enough to allow people of all viewpoints here--which many people here DON'T want, and that's why the pushback.

Yep, most smaller communities on Lemmy are awesome. Political communities are terrible and the people who are mad at ya in those, will follow you to non-political communities just to downvote and harrass. It's toxic.

Yeah, the tech community here is pretty awesome. Politics community, definitely not awesome.

See, that's the problem. I don't think the world is getting "worse," it's just the doomscrollers on Lemmy wanting it to be worse to fit their own twisted narratives.

I think a lot of Lemmy posters are depressed and actually want everyone else to be depressed.

Thank you for pointing this out. I found this place as an alternative to Reddit, but whoa, I think the hate for anyone who doesn't join the groupthink is actually worse here than on reddit.

I've actually had posters on here follow me to other communities just to downvote and talk crap about me, even if the community/subject had nothing to with their original beef about me. And they would brag about doing it!

Never had that happen on Reddit! Of course, won't stop me from posting, and I just think it's hilarious. Weird though!

Actually seems to me that you are the one making a big deal out of it. I posted a link to a science article. You can click it and read it, or not. But it's weird that you implied that was a lot of work to do.
