  • You're assuming that the dramatically segmented and stratified experience is the "exact same service", which is patently not true.

There's a world of difference between a black officer who managed a supply line, a white non-comp who maintained aircraft, and a queer rifeman who witnessed half his unit die to an IED. And that's ignoring rape, gang infiltration, religions discrimination, and plain ol "was your CO a jerk or awesome?"

  • I can forgive virtually everything else he's said... But suggesting Biden grant a pardon to a man who has shown no remorse or even an admission that his alleged crimes might be wrong is so far off the path of wisdom that i dont think its even fair to count his seat "blue".

  • I dont think you've ever been really cold if you dont recognize the difference in utility between "heat up my whole room a very little amount" and "heat up something i can feel."

To explain it simply: having heat trapped locally can help get heat into the human, which is far more important than putting heat into the air.

  • It's not accurate to say she wasn't "allowed" - - she was the candidate for POTUS, and essentially literally the party boss.

Harris CHOSE to stand by Biden, warts and all, and in doing so inherited a bunch of his baggage. I presume this is in large part because she agreed with him, but it may be that she instead chose to hide her disagreement on the advice of others.

  • Very little, at least.compared to the opposition.

It was infested with myopic tomfoolery of a scale that can easily be described as "corrupt", but i haven't heard and specific allegations of anyone actually trying to lose.

  • Is the answer more complicated than "magazines are a dead medium and our entire annual revenue comes from our person of the year issue", coupled with "when we did this eight years ago that issue sold gangbusters"?

  • If you call the police you might wind up dead or in an institution for months or weeks.

If you call for an am ambulance, you might wind up dead or in an institution for months or weeks AND will definitely have a huge bill that you have to pay.

  • You're forgetting "customers see how much prices are up, and just stay home" or "company C, looking to break in, undercuts A and B and changes the market."

A real UBI is a great fix for capitalism, since it makes "f it, I'll just stay at home" possible.

  • Assuming you're a US citzen:

    1. Identiy that the fault is how we fund healthcare, not "government meddling" or "bad researchers".
    2. Pick a major political party.
    3. Register as a member and find out where your local meetings are.
    4. Make clear that the ONLY issue you care about is fixing healthcare.
    5. Volunteer, donate, or run if you can.
    6. Vote in every general, primary, or special election for whomever makes fixing healthcare a priority. Spoil if you must, but VOTE.
    7. Dont fall for lies.

Fixing healthcare funding is itself broadly popular, but since its inherently unprofitable to care for sick, disabled, or elderly people all possible fixes are either "socialism" or "die quickly"

Healthcare should be like roads or schools or calling the police, not like cars or contractors or hiring a lawyer.

  • Context matters. Always, in all things, but especially language. (i can rant about tomatoes if i need to.)

While i can see that you might think i was making a general statement, i feel confident that the context makes it clear that "actor" applies specifically to persons engaging in political persuasion by propogating advertisements or financing lobbyists.

Still, in the interests of clarity, let me re-state the maxim with the context more explicit:

In politics, no good actor needs to hide their actions.

  • If you cant see the difference between personal privacy and political anonymity, consider the difference in a court of law. Your privacy means not having to take the stand, while piercing anonymnity is necessary to rebut the accusations others make against you.

You can be private if you want to be left alone, but if you want the government to intercede on your behalf you should need to make clear who you are.

  • They essentially described how the US primary education system works, and prerry much how secondary education worked until Regan.

That you think it's "socialism" and therefore impossible is a reinforcement of hard-right elitist propaganda.

  • Very-blue New York has an anti-gerrymandering law so severe that that it netted Red three seats two years ago.

Very-red North Carolina just ignored court rulings and gerrymandering their way to three extra seats this year. And then there's Texas.

While both sides SHOULD play by the same set of rules, they aren't. Not even close.

  • Yes, absolutely.

The American left has a terrible habit of playing nice instead of playing fair.

Congressional gerrymandering should be regulated nationwide or not at all. Instead, we're stuck with this asinine "no gerrymandering except in redcap occupied states" situation.

  • For actual fast food - - that you can order in a drive-thru and not have to wait around for - - the best around here is honestly Wendy's. They're not anything id pay $20 each for, but their average burger is better than their just-as-fast competition.

If by "fast" you really mean "without waitstaff", they're all great. 5 guys, smashburger, fuddruckers", and a dozen tiny chains all make burgers worth paying a premium for.

About the only place NOT worth getting a burger at is anyplace with waitstaff. They just dont take them seriously enough to do a good job, and wind uo about as good as a slightly well-run McDonald's.

(*: i think this one went out of business.)
