  • I don’t think it will ever be mainstream. It’s confusing enough for IT literate people with a basic understanding of the concept, I can’t see it ever getting popular with the wider public.
My main concern is the overlap between lemmy instances, meaning me and my mate can be looking at for example a channel named ‘news’ and see different contents because we are on different instances. So you either subscribe to all news channels on all major instances and see lots of duplicated posts, or miss out on some posts.

  • What do you think a court order is ….

Well, it’s not the police telling me to lock up my knives, or my isp telling me to lock down my wifi.

As far as i know, there is no law and there was no court order obliging the internet subscriber to lock down their wifi. Which would not do much for a household member plugging a cable into the router’s lan port anyway.

  • It’s more than 30p / kwh.

    A 32 amp fuse allows around 7.5kw, not 3kw

House plugs in the UK typically have a 13 amp fuse, not 16 amp.

It’s not a safety issue. The wiring to the socket should support 32 amp, with a safety margin on top.

  • I don’t think they will poison themselves. I had to look up what a vacuum breaker is, never seen one in the uk, and not seen reports of anyone being poisoned due to not having one. Check valves are sometimes used (for water heaters for example) but those are silent.

  • Something weird going on there. !news@lemmy.world does not appear in the lemmy search results (ios version), even though it has 12k subscribers and plenty of posts. Turkey_news for example does show up but does not even appear to have any posts.
