  • And the alternative to not getting rid of the bad posts is getting rid of followers. I am about to unsubscribe here due to the volume of posts that aren’t discussing true unpopular opinions. Until then, I will keep downvoting the shitposts

  • Probably. On Reddit, some of it can managed at community (subreddit) level by bots automatically deleting posts or comments from recently joined people. Maybe a tiered system of mod privileges could work, where a junior mod can delete spam/offensive posts but not ban people. Mind you, banning people is not really effective in a fediverse where you can easily create new user accounts, on another instance.

  • Interesting idea. But after thinking about it for a few minutes, i don’t think federated reputation would work for moderation privileges. Instances have their own rules, and i would not trust a hexbear mod to behave in line with lemmy.world rules and values. The same is true for communities really.

  • I take it you are not from the UK. See Safety of Rwanda (Asylum and Immigration) Bill https://bills.parliament.uk/bills/3540/publications

The Government plans to send some people who would otherwise claim asylum in the UK to Rwanda, saying that it is safe for refugees. The Supreme Court has held that Rwanda is not safe for refugees because they might be sent away to face persecution, and so the plan is unlawful.

Government has signed a new treaty with Rwanda containing additional safeguards for people relocated. Parliament is now being asked to consider legislation declaring that Rwanda must be treated as safe, in order to render the relocation plan lawful in UK domestic law.

That law is very much a statement, and arguably an untrue one

  • There are still bugs that need fixing. The main developer seems to be taking a break, check the posts from GKD. Understandable and well deserved for all the good work he did, Memmy was the best app on IOS in my view and it made my move to the fediverse a better experience. But I am writing this using the Voyager app, I switched because of unresolved bugs (mainly comments not showing up depending on the sort option). I may return when development resumes.

  • No, it isn’t, not in the UK. My EV does run cheaper than an equivalent petrol car when charging at home, but when charging on motorways, which I have to do on longer runs, it’s actually more expensive to run than petrol.
