  • I'm looking for change in our systems, but I recognize that the system is far bigger than me or you. I'm not going to lose sleep living in the only system I have access to. But in the meantime, I will bother politicians hoping to change the system that way.

  • Sure, they sell the hides to the leather industry, but that's just kind of convenient for them to do. If they couldn't sell the hides, they'd still be selling the meat. But the cattle industry could not get by on selling the hides without the meat.

Leather is simply small potatoes in comparison

  • The cattle industry is horrid. Boycotting or avoiding leather goods is not the lever that will harm the industry. Using leather goods means less waste from the meat industry. Leather items are good

  • Yes, see you in 2 years

  • I don't follow your thoughts here.

But. The state would likely regulate them away except maybe in climates that aren't very burdened by golf courses, if that's even a thing. Communist governments don't inherently take full control of all businesses. They simply eliminate private property, which is not to be confused with personal property.

A communist golf course might look like this. You roll right up to the course. You either pull out your own clubs or borrow some from the facility. Someone maybe informs you which courses are more or less busy, helps you understand how to play and what etiquette is expected for the pleasure and safety of yourself, other active and future golfers. And then someone maintains the courses when... whenever they're maintained now probably.

  • From my experience, Mastodon is limited by interaction being more limited. On Twitter, I used to have the luxury of not needing to always know who I wanted to interact with. I could follow 30 celebrities I was interested in, go to their posts and find a plethora of people to interact with about something I cared about. That got me started until I found corners of Twitter that I liked.

Here on lemmy, there's a front page that's bound to have something worthwhile.

Both are helped by instances. If you're in the right instance for you, you already have an okay starting point.

  • They're fed lies that the country is under duress by everything and just a handful of people, namely trump and his allies, are able to save us. They think life is like the movies and they can be a hero

  • Okay but I want that so bad now

  • Gods I fucking predicted this. The motor heads need the vroom vroom or they won't make the green transition. Now, it is legally required for electric cars to make a sound so they don't sneak up on blind folks. Why not make it a cool sound that isn't obnoxious?

  • Does this work with triangles too?

  • Nasa uses 15 digits of pi for solar system travel. And 42 digits is enough to calculate the entire universe to atomic accuracy

  • I have no idea, Is there anything I can do about that? I thought it just assigned me a cheeky avatar

  • Yes all of this. And also, even if Palestine was in no way on the ballot in November, that doesn't mean it's not worth it to vote for the guy who is much better in all the ways that are on the ballot

  • And I believe that was circa 2015 or 2016. And drug abusers are kinda known for gradually escalating their usage

  • There's a Cinco de mayo (2016?) photo of trump in his home office where in the background is a drawer open containing a British allergy medication. A med that is illegal in the USA because it contains amphetamines. Suspicious at best
