I'm curious, do you use this on mobile or are you talking about a desktop experience?
Personally I find more ads on something like Sync on mobile than I did on Reddit which I can block, but I am now forced to use the Reddit desktop site.
Oh I'm surprised you got banned. I tried to argue with someone like yourself as I think it's stupid, and then they pushed some argument about how communism/socialism is the right way forward and I was being downvoted.
Thought it was just Lemmy subs being extreme left but maybe not all places are extreme.
Not sure I understand tbh. Seems exactly the same?
You get banned in a reddit community you can't access it, you get banned in a lemmy community you can't access it.
I've been banned from reddit communities and can still access reddit. If you've been banned from Reddit completely you must have done some terrible shit.
In your example, you're also suggesting a transphobic person has more scope on Lemmy to continue being transphobic than on Reddit. That's not a good thing?
Just be aware Lemmy has its own share of issues and extremist views. It's not as simple as Reddit is evil and Lemmy is good, both have their pros and cons at end of day and realistically they both probably have a role to play for people.
If you have any basic computer skills it's really not an issue. You can turn off pretty much anything. I can't remember the last time I saw an ad within Windows tbh.
This is just fearmongering at its worst. It's like me saying Linux is only for IT companies running servers because it's unusable for a normal person as the UI is janky and it's all code based.
I think this quickly goes into bad territory.
It's very easy to be racist/sexist and then just say "It was a joke bro! Calm down!" as an example.
If you're making violent "jokes" but saying it's not real... Well sorry to say but you're actually just violent and pretending otherwise.
