I believe stateside it's called 'manslaughter' in a case such as that. Manslaughter is "the crime of killing a human being without malice aforethought, or otherwise in circumstances not amounting to murder." So no, it wouldn't be deserving of a murder sentence... Edit: Unless the jury or judge deemed it so, of course.

I don't think the nazi's actually 'created' any of their own symbols did they? Maybe the stylized SS? They completely ruined the swastika which had been around for 'nearly 7000 years' according to the holocaust museum. While I wouldn't expect a company to ever use a swastika, I don't think every single stolen symbol they used should hold the same stigma...

Yeah, good idea. I did. Not sure if it's even possible with the lemmyverse though, as I have yet to come across a well organized 'page' like that yet.

I found this one, and checked it out a few times. It's not where it needs to be. Is there a way to maybe sticky or have sub-topics specifically for things such as builds, or quest faq, or things like that? I think maybe some nesting or stickied topics would help. Some type of sub-categorization inside the actual (not sure what we call these, topics?).

I don't have one, that's why I'm trying to look for one! But when I find a good combo I will be posting it, yes.

Stick to the gaming industry I guess. Not understanding that questioning something and saying there are much worse issues does not = defending. You might be better served pushing your compatriots to actually, I don't know, get things they want in their contracts. My guess is you're a late teen early 20s person working at gamestop for 12 years and feels that equals 'working in the industry for 12 years.' Good on you tho!

Yeah, I've run into this here. I posted a question to one of the posts asking why it was such a big deal, and all the sudden I'm a corporate defender. I don't think this is a reddit, lemmy, or anything issue, it's just internet and echo chambers. If you don't reply with a "OMG YES SO TRUE OMG" then you are a dissident.

So, for my two cents: REDDIT was my go to for very biased but usually non-corporate info. For example, Baldurs Gate 3. In the past, I would research 'BG3 builds reddit' and just check out different builds people tried. It was always much better than going to a crappy corporate owned 'gaming mag' type website, where most of them just copy/pasted info from reddit anyway. It was a pretty good repository for info like that, and reddthat (or lemmy I guess) has not reached that level yet. I tried doing some searching on here for bg3 builds, almost nada.

If you think this is dehumanizing, you got some rough lessons when you join the workforce. That being said, I'm not defending it in the least. I just think it's minuscule in the grand scheme of 'bad things a company can do to its workers' and if anything should teach the translators to get it in any future contracts. But then again, I'm in compliance management. I've seen companies discard poultry machines because they had a guard removed and they wanted to hide that from OSHA (and lawyers) to 'improve throughput' that then eventually cut a woman's hand half off, then fire employees who told OSHA who and why the guard was removed. Not getting your name credited on some work, OHTEHNOES THE TRAGEDY!! Fuckin grow up.

Then hopefully if it was that important to them they were smart enough to have it in their contracts which means now they are owed compensation for that unfulfilled portion of their contract.

I guess the disconnect is that this is common practice in most industries. Is it right? I can't really comment on that. Do team leads or EC members get their name on things when 100's of people worked tirelessly under them and they networked at the golf course? Yes..all the time in business. Maybe this is different in the gaming industry.

You linked a report with methodology and limits, but did you read it? Traceability assumptions are, first and foremost, assumptions. To assume this agency has all required data points for some news article to claim a percentage on a number there is no way they could know, is...well I already touched on that in my first post.

.."the vast majority of illicit fentanyl — close to 90% — is seized at official border crossings" I always take 'news' with a grain of salt when they claim they know a percentage of a total that they absolutely do not. 90% of what, total seized? That sounds about right. They have no clue what the total of illicit fentanyl is.

I don't see the issue here..did they expect to get their name in credits for doing their job? They can still put it on their resume...
