  • There's been lots of updates to the layout and styling, as well as a dark theme! And we've also got it redirecting to a cleaner domain name now. https://randomizers.debigare.com/

  • He called Git simple lol. Some good points here though. GIMP is definitely a bit clunky. Kdenlive does crash a lot for me, and often fails to recover the autosave, and it renders slowly. But there's a lot of other good open source programs too. Firefox, OBS, Blender, some people in the comments were saying Krita but I haven't tried it yet. There's also Chromium and VSCode but obviously those are backed by huge companies.

  • What if you have a 3dfx Voodoo? I remember that game supported Glide rendering. I guess you could emulate Glide, or emulate the Dreamcast version

  • Peanut Butter the dog will be doing his speedrun in about an hour!

  • I feel the same way about the prequels, but I think the original game is the best game ever made.

  • I would suggest against GMDX for a first time playthrough, it changes A LOT. From the aesthetics, to the gameplay, to the sounds, the mood, the feel of the game, and the viable approaches in each level, there's so much that's changed it just isn't the same game anymore.

You're much better off with the Vanilla Fixer tool, Transcended, or Zero Rando (I'm the dev). You could also use Revision and toggle every setting to vanilla, but make sure you also disable the HDTP models, and disable Shifter and Biomod too, and definitely set the maps to vanilla.

  • this is in person

I agree about some gimmicks like 2 players 1 controller, or playing games with a dance pad or whatever, they seem difficult but still feel like gimmicks to me

4-way races are ok if you're familiar with the game and speedrun already, but otherwise hard to watch

  • Plenty of site to participate in and plenty to talk/post about that doesn't involve your thing.

I comment plenty, and anything else I want to post has already been posted. I guess the only way is to start following RSS feeds to post things more quickly lol. I'm not gonna do that though.

Also the fact that they count it site-wide instead of sub-wide means if you create your own sub or use an appropriate niche sub, you're gonna screw up your own ratio.

  • It's ok to have a rule like this in case of abusers. But I'm not being abusive about it, I'm not using AI, and I'm getting many upvotes. The 10% rule is incredibly strict if applied indiscriminately.

  • That's a known bug in older versions of Lemmy, it was fixed recently but Beehaw hasn't updated
