  • Commodore 64. I fell in love with Wizard of Wor before we got the family computer, and I felt pretty lucky for having a floppy drive. I also used to play a good bunch of Atari 2600 clone at a family member, if that counts.

  • You're right about tetanus not being caused by rust. But it's not caused by sheer punctures, it is a serious disease of the nervous system caused by a toxin-producing bacterium called Clostridium tetani. It can often be found in soil, but yes, if you leave a perfectly clean silver nail in that soil (which is infected by the bacterium), then yes, you can get infected.

  • I was so shocked first! Back when I was a kid I was super hyped when a Hungarian team had announced that they would make a Doom knockoff called Boom! I bought the game as soon as I could, and while I still played it a good bunch, I was a bit disappointed that it was basically an old RPG style 90-degree-turns-only, central projection kind of shooter with mostly static (non-moving) sprites and joystick aiming. And that was pretty much all that they could squeeze out of the hardware, spread over several floppy disks.

Since the map was mesh/cell based, and every enemy was in the center of one cell, it was faster to just turn-move-turn-move-turn and shoot with a centered crosshair than aiming with your constant speed joystick.

Even THAT game had serious frame rate limitations, so I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the gif.

  • I just checked my emoji set. 13 emojis that you can use to express some kind of joy/cheerful mood that isn't associated with food or feelings towards other beings. Including those (like 🥰) there are many more. I'm probably old man yelling at clouds here, but I'm sick of everyone using the 'I AM CRYING WITH LAUGHTER' emoji to simply say anything between 'huh, yeah' and 'haha, that's good'. Of course I don't expect the emoji police to show up and arrest them for not producing tears, but this basically inflates (deflates?) the value of everything else. To me it feels like writing your whole text with all caps. If everything is highlighted, then nothing is highlighted.

  • And 3D was the "AI" of those times. They had to bring it to EVERYTHING. Micro Machines (a top view toy car racer)? We'll make it 3D, buy a card. Frogger? Yupp, Frogger 3D. They even tried to force 3D on poor Worms in 2003. I still prefer Worms World Party/Armageddon.

  • Similarly to how wine bottles with metal caps used to be frowned upon, because "all quality wines are bottled with corks". I've had both awful and great wines from both corked and capped bottles.

  • You don't even need to have emotions while using a scented body wash. You can just go "ah, roses, cool" and get on with it.

There is a legitimate reason to prefer something else. I would also want something that provides freshness in a minty/salty/whatever way. Roses do smell nice, but I would rather have something associated with icy/sporty freshness. But assuming it's feminine just because it smells like flowers... consult renaissance folks.
