  • This last election made me into an anarchist for now. I do not believe there is any way to salvage this system we have in any meaningful way. I'm not a violent person so I can't see myself doing anything like Luigi, but Democrats aren't going to save anyone and are just one part of the problem.

I think Donald could be the death blow to our country as more and more of our social contract is upended, especially with talks of killing the ACA and other popular programs.

  • Basically just seems like a normal, intelligent, albeit edgy (with reason) young adult.

I'm curious to see how he's painted by the media now that most of his accounts have been deleted it won't be possible to understand who he was without the media telling us.

  • Brain drain will happen after prices skyrocket and folks are expected to wait it out. Places like Spain are cheap, but generally have a better qol than most places in America.

If European countries want to open their doors to distraught Americans I think it's a great idea because there are a lot of highly educated, highly skilled folks here that might just be done with the bs once maga really begins to churn.

  • Yeah I agree, but we dont really live in that society anymore. All attempts at reform are sidelined and corporate interests are put over our own constantly. I don't like it either, but people have a breaking point and they can only take so much. If we had a stronger aca that wasn't gutted by industry maybe there wouldn't have been motive here.

  • I fear it's too late. Unless the party can be taken by force it won't be enough and we only have 4 years. If dems didn't snub Bernie this all probably wouldn't have happened. Our choices used to be two flavors of corporate fascism, now it's far right vs corporate. Dems are better on social issues, but it's not enough.

  • Genuine question: what happens to someone born in the US to non citizens? If they were born in the states, would they not have the citizenship of their parents country? At that point would they just have no citizenship anywhere?

I'm sure if it came down to it their parents home country might grant their child citizenship, but it probably won't be guaranteed..

  • They can't and won't learn. They'd rather have a fake controllable populist on the right than a progressive on the left they can't control. The DNC has been serving nothing but corporate neocons since Clinton. They don't fuckin learn. They need to be thoroughly ripped apart before things will get better.

  • The DNC isn't entitled to Americans votes. They lost us and lost folks to the Republicans because they promised to fix the economy and are actually talking to people directly. The DNC is fucking dead to me.

I voted Kamala but I knew she didn't stand a chance. I knew we were cooked when it was Biden/Kamala

  • Another point is that cars, car infrastructure, and car oriented development is one of the single most wasteful ways to use land. Building smarter cities with alternative transit systems, mixed use areas, and actually using all 3 dimensions like many newer cities in China could protect so much habitat from needlessly being destroyed. There's hardly any truly wild land left on the east coast, it's hard to tell what things used to look like now that practically everything is covered in suburbs and strip malls.

  • Its pretty insane we don't invest in our cities anymore when they're the powerhouse of the economy. Not to mention they're a way better use of land than suburbs and rural living. You can find affordable places in Tokyo and so many other cities worldwide that dwarf ours in almost every metric. Cities really aren't the problem, they are actually the potential solution if we change our policies around them and attempt to catch up with countries like Japan.

  • I'm still waiting for games to release on Linux with good compatibility, I hope that's the case since the steam deck has been out for a bit. Unfortunately every Linux native game I've tried so far has had some issues that were resolved switching to wine
