Conflating harmful actions with lack of intelligence does everyone a disservice. To suggest that “stupidity” that is what makes people act badly undermines any real accountability. The causes of problematic behavior rarely have anything to do with mental acuity, and we can’t properly address harmful behavior while being so reductive about its causes. Carelessness, bias, hatred, greed, closed-mindedness, indifference – these are the traits that lead to oppression. Our intelligence is not the issue so much as our sense of compassion and justice.
I don't disagree that this is infuriating, but bigotry isn't "craziness", it's a well established system of oppression that greatly benefits some over others. We can only tackle it once we acknowledge what it is.
Currently: "meritocracy" has nothing to do with "merit" and more to do with eugenics, it's just a word to make white-supremacist-patriarchal-cis-heteronormative-abled-supremacist bigotry sound less terrible than it is.
In general: because hierarchy is bad for society, since someone always ends up at the artificial "bottom" and treated badly or at the very least as less worthy or deserving (of life, dignity, freedom, access, and so on). The only reason anyone would want/believe in a "meritocracy" is because it makes them feel superior to others.
I'm disabled and while I don't have anything set up yet (mostly because I've been looking to move house for a while), and even when I do, I probably won't tinker with it much since that's not really my thing, some home automation would make a huge difference in my life..
You're literally explaining why saying "people with higher levels of hormone A or B" in the title (a prominent part of a publication) instead of pseudoscientific bullshit like "the female brain" is not only accurate, but would avoid all sorts of potential confusion.
I also literally never mentioned trans people (sorry, "issues"), you're clearly just a bigot triggered by the mere suggestion of inclusivity of all people, who would reject it even at the expense of accuracy because you're just so hateful, and should feel free to go fuck yourself.
