  • I'm willing to admit that I only hold this opinion because I played the game when I was 10 very much not good at it, but this has got to be one of my least favorite maps of all time

  • For torrenting purposes only, vpn doesn't really matter as long it properly hides your ip (even the overpriced ones that don't actually respect privacy)

Proton is still a good recommendation as long as you pay for premium, but I've started using airvpn since the proton ceo started getting weird. Mullvad is also good, but doesn't allow port forwarding, which isn't the end of the world but could have some negative effects (at least one person needs a forwarded port for you to connect to each other, and if you're not forwarding yours, you're relying on other people to forward theirs)

Tldr: proton is good, just pay for it. Airvpn and mullvad are also good

  • I've played almost every game between gen 3 and gen 7, but that's about where I started falling out of love with it. Idk something about the new games just doesn't jive with me. Rom hacks are pretty cool, although I felt they were stagnant for a while. Been a while since i checked though so time to see if people have cooked up anything good in the last year or two

    1. I host at home so unfortunately can't give you any advice on a vps
    2. If you're torrenting, yes I would recommend a VPN. If you're setting up docker containers, gluetun is what you want to use. It's a client you can use to connect to most major VPN providers
    3. You don't need to open your server to the internet for you or your partner to remotely access it. You can use tailscale (or manually setup wireguard) to remotely access it without exposing anything. Alternatively, if you still want to open it, you can use fail2ban. I don't know enough about networking to tell you exactly how secure it makes you, but assuming you're a normal guy who isn't pissing off any major corporations/states/etc it's probably fine
    4. I haven't clicked on any of the links you provided, but I assume they mention the *arr stack. Some other goodies that may not have been mentioned though are jellyseerr, which has a nice frontend to search and request movies and TV, and homarr, which is a dashboard you can setup to sync with your other hosted apps. I have a couple extra I could tell you if you want, but I think these are the most important for a basic "official feeling" setup
  • Got sucked into the solo leveling gacha game. I haven't played a gacha game since the one I played in high school got shut down, but it's pretty fun and seems like it's f2p friendly. We'll see how long I stick with it for
