  • Except they did invent it. They were on the development panel.

  • Samsung is the largest Android OEM in the West and they give 4 years of updates. Google does 3 major upgrades and 5 years of security patches. There's no reason why a multibillion dollar legacy software giant can't do the same.

    They didn't need it before. Much of America didn't either. A lot of old wood houses had designs built for airflow and trees surrounding the houses. Those that didn't got old attic fans that would pull air from the bottom of the house to the top and out of vents.

    These days, insulation and HVAC exists and Americans jumped at the chance to have year round temperature control. Heat pumps now have the best efficiency for cooling and heating year round and can replace most options. Almost everyone will need this option as global warming barrell out of control.

  • Lemmy would be soaring too if it weren't for terrible database code allowing for easy ddos.

  • To be fair, cannabis is legal in a lot of states now despite the slowness of the federal government. Especially medical cannibis. Psilocybin is only legal in two states. It's gonna take a while to catch up.

  • I live in Louisiana, can confirm. Median income is less than 50k a year. The legislature doesn't really want to fix anything or tax big business. The parishes relies on federal dollars to move the needle because they can't get much of anything out of the state and local tax dollars only go so far. The state is now losing 20k people a year since 2020.
