I watched an episode or two, and it's basically the current generation's version of GMod Idiot Box.

Mainstream seems filled with bots, and non-mainstream seems filled with the types that those in the mainstream would rather not put up with.

Ah, so it's not so much "returning" as it is getting a remake. Different company producing, and doesn't seem like they use the original recipes, but instead crowdsource it essentially.

In theory, whomever is running the ad pays per click or w/e. In practice, it does nothing but expose your own system to potential risk.

As for losing open tabs, there're a few different extensions that'll allow you to bookmark all open tabs and throw 'em in a folder. Easy enough to do that before updating, then just delete the folder that's created via the bookmarks manager once you've updated/reopened tabs.

"Patent pending" and already picked up by a major manufacturer. So what this means is basically while it could be a good thing... the article is basically an advertisement for an upcoming product.

Not nearly as good a thing until it gets copied/the patent gets worked around. Also, zero explanation of what was actually done to accomplish this, so again, leaning more towards "this is just advertisement with extra steps".

It's like if the Craigslist guy was like "You know what, I think I'm going to open my own outdoor store". I like the little link to the page about his car. No bragging, no showing off... just a "Hey, this is my car. These are it's specifications. Check it out."

Yeah, that combination of his own self-importance, and his fanbase's seeming need to slobber all over his knob seems to result in a never-ending circlejerk about such a trash person. Him and that rapist Taint.

The "free speech" instances are just cesspools of a different shade. Sticking to any one singular platform, you'll eventually notice them start to slide towards a groupthink/echochamber of sorts, regardless of the focus of the instance.

Easiest way is to just browse multiple instances of different types. At least the unhinged insanity of each side cancels each other out for the most part.

But sometimes, something is just so fucking stupid it doesn't deserve that sort of engagement...
