  • At our gym we have a "rower drag racing" leaderboard.

Something about my size, fitness level and physiology just slots me in as one of the top 5. I can crank out a KM in a REALLY good time despite not being super strong or fit and then collapse onto the floor damn near dying for the next 15 minutes.

In shorter distances the stronger guys bury me, over longer distances my endurance gives out. But at a KM I can give it 100% the whole time and hit my wall right on the mark.

  • Well if you're like 15 years old and join an athletics club tomorrow and train like a psychopath, its not completely impossible that you could make the Olympics in 2028.

I'm 40 this year, I'm in good shape for a middle aged dad but olympically speaki g anything physical is pretty much out for me, Id have to look at shooting or archery because thats significantly more skills based than physical exertion.

  • Even as someone who hasnt done a lot of shooting, I feel like shooting and archery would be your average persons best bet. Most olymic sports require year after year of conditioning to be competitive, as well as the skills work and team training.

Shooting and archery is almost totally skills work and no team training. I think if you won the lottery and could just afford to hire coaches full time and live at the range you could probably go from unskilled to olympic hopeful in 4 years.

  • If you want to avoid squishing your junk, I recommend buying some elasticated boxers that are just a LITTLE bit tighter than you would buy for every day wear. Keep your business pulled in close and tight.

As for avoiding workouts... theres a lot to unpack there. The short version is "You have the DNA you have" no amount of a "Bikini body" workout is going to give you tits or a BBL booty and any workout that mentions "Targeted fat loss" is bullshit. Situps do not burn belly fat. Workouts for bodybuilding and workouts for functional strength are different. Workouts for cardio and workouts for conditioning are different.

But what might build a bunch of muscle and functional strength for a 60kg woman might only qualify as a warmup for me, programs written for women will likely be different because (THIS IS NOT SEXISM) men on average carry more muscle as a percentage and less fat. Workouts programmed for women tend to have more cardio and lower weight. Not to say that you couldnt do that workout and hit it with intensity and get results, but its likely to be suboptimal.

If you're interested in learning more about exercise science Dr Mike Isratel of Renaissance Periodization on YT has some fantastic and easy to digest videos (not exactly geared for beginners but theres some very quality insights if you find the right videos.) As well as James Smith, Dr Pak, Jeff Nippard and their associated friends.

  • A lot of the whole thing about women avoiding exercises because they dont want to look more masculine is ridiculous. Its like putting $50 in a savings account and worrying about the tax implications of your future millions, its not going to happen by accident.

  • Lets be real, once you get past the people who have already picked their team and will justify any decision their party makes how many Americans are legitimately informed enough for it to be relevant to their decision making about more than 1 issue?

The question is "Does she have a chance?" She definitely has a chance because of her optics alone, it will take policies and some pretty ambitious promises to seal the deal.

  • I think everyone misinterpreted what I said, which I said very poorly. Its my bad.

Women who care about abortion access/rights as single issue voters almost certainly already werent voting Republican already. So if the Dems do run on a pro-choice platform it might not effect the numbers as much as people think.

Essentially it might motivate more people to vote, because its a contentious issue and it will be weighted to votes for the Dems, but I dont think its a magic bullet for her campaign.

  • The only point I'd argue is that whenever I see pictures of people protesting outside abortion clinics there are plenty of women there too...

The abortion topic might not necessarily pull the womens vote as hard as you might think.

  • That may work in Harris's favor. She is a woman and she isnt white...

Now I know theres minorities and women who do vote red but if you look at the population based on percentages white men are only 31% of the population, White women 30%, 12% black, 18% Hispanic. If she pulls white women, and the POC (not to mention the LGBT+ vote) she could absolutely walk it in. She just needs to convince those people to get up off their asses and vote in record numbers.

  • Socks and slides is only acceptable footwear for taking the bin to the kerb or checking the mailbox. If you're wearing them in public I immediately assume you are a classless dumbass and your opinion on anything is irrelevant.

  • A high end tablet press can make over 1.5 million tablets an hour with no additional consumables or ingredients, Its purely mechanical. Conventional tablets will definitely be cheaper to manufacture but not to the degree that they are sold at in retail markets the whole sales chain of gel capsules are deliberately marking up the product because if you have trouble swallowing conventional tablets you WILL pay the markup.
