It's not clickbait. The Linux version of Steam consisted of a binary, as well as a script called steam.sh which could be used to launch Steam. There actually was a line in that script with a comment above it saying # Scary!. The script was not supposed to rm -rf the entire hard drive, but if something went wrong, exactly that happened.
Nice, but I prefer Vimium. It uses Vim keybindings, that I'm already very familiar with, as I use Vim as my primary editor.
I also like Move Tab and Duplicate Tab Shortcut. These basically allow me to perform about 95% of my browser activities without ever touching the mouse.
I highly recommend the Pixel Tablet with GrapheneOS. It gets 5 years of updates, and it's very secure. Especially with GrapheneOS. Just like Pixel phones.
I noticed that beehaw.org on average has more "normal posts" (not links) than other instances. I found communities there for the topics you are interested in like technology, politics and parenting. It's not completely link-free, but I'd say there are fewer links than elsewhere. That's the best I could find on the Fediverse. Maybe someone else has better suggestions.
