  • There are many advantages to using kde, VRR being a major reason. Not to mention valve directly contributes to kde for the steam deck. I'm looking forward to cosmic, but I'm on kde right now and ok going to wait until cosmic is stable before using it.

  • Except ark for all of its faults is at least a somewhat complete game with a clear progression path. I've had my fair share of wildcard hate, and they still seem to be dropping the ball to this day, but you can't deny that it was popular for quite some time and still is to an extent.

  • As others have said use the Pop_OS! Nvidia ISO. Nvidia drivers are just problematic on Linux. There's a good chance your games will just work with that OS. It's also based off Ubuntu, so it has access to the same software repositories.

  • They actually are being phased out. Traditional AD powered through LDAP is going the way of the dodo with the inception of azure AD and exchange is getting replaced by o365 for business. As for Outlook, the latest version is trash and Excel is great for the most part but when you build entire workflows out of Excel with Oracle connections and pivot tables it's complete dog shit to manage from an IT perspective. There's a reason damn near every web server ruins through Apache on a Linux box instead of IIS.

  • The only reason any of those businesses use Microsoft products is because of active directory and exchange. Both of which are legacy products that are being, if not already, phased out. The real truth is this, the enterprise runs on Microsoft, but the world runs on Linux. Windows is so bad for containers that Microsoft has to make their own distro of Linux specifically for containers with azure Linux and that's just one example of the technical debt Windows creates. The quicker NT can finally die is when the world can finally move towards real innovation instead of being handicapped by Microsoft and their unfair business practices. Some of us haven't forgotten "embrace, extend, and extinguish" which is exactly what they're doing in the gaming markets by buying up the competition.

  • It's not, it's a superficial opinion on color and functionality that apple and Google want you to think is a big deal but in reality it's two companies using two different protocols and they want you to pick up their product over the over. Even Americans don't know why it's a big deal, they see green in iMessage and freak out.

  • My daily driver is an endeavorOS install, the only reason I keep windows 10 on a small SSD is for GeForce Now since the windows app is the only platform they provide that supports streams at 120+fps and 1440p. My windows 10 install is just a GeForce Now thin client ever since I got att fiber.

  • I've been running Wayland for a while on my amd rig and haven't had any problems with xwayland in regards to compatibility. Nvidia on the other hand is problematic but the drivers seem to be improving with every release.

  • I literally can't play this game, my PC has 16GB of RAM and it runs out of free memory after like 10 minutes and crashes to desktop. When your "fix" is to just buy more RAM or increase your page file size, then your game is a fucking scam. I understand new games require more powerful hardware, but this is Amazon lumberyard ffs.

  • You realize cyberpunk wasn't the only game they've made that needed fixed after release right? Both W1 and 2 had enhanced edition patches to fix the broken shit in both games. W1 was a 7/10 game on release by multiple outlets. W3 was the first game they actually took their time with and delayed multiple times to avoid the enhanced edition patches. Anyone who thought cyberpunk was going to be flawless on release was breathing in that hopium.

  • I see articles about ex-devs standing up studios and then they never have anything to show for it, even years later there's nothing to show. This has been happening for years and the first game I've seen from any ex-dev team is stormgate from ex-starcraft devs.

  • If you're just using it to read, I would highly recommend selling it and getting an e-ink display. I have both a Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle fire 8 plus. I just can't read books on the fire 8 anymore, the Paperwhite is so good. If you can't stand Amazon then rakuten makes a really good e-ink readers with their kobos.

  • This thing is terrible, who the fuck is buying shit like this? What a waste of electronic materials. They could've made a true handheld with the power of the steam deck that could run PS5 games at lower resolutions, but fuck no! Let's make some bullshit abomination of a Vita successor and give anyone who loves portable gaming the middle finger, especially since you can't use Bluetooth headphones. Fuck you Sony.
