  • I'd be surprised if you hadn't read it already, it's Mort by Terry Pratchett. I've been meaning to start Discworld for ages but kept finding excuses and finally started my journey reading them in chronological release order. I really wish I started this series sooner. What an absolute delight it's been!

  • I keep seeing you pop up in comment sections. I almost finished my book last night just a few chapters left and I promise I'll post something to your instance to promote activity lol

  • I have a bunch of lemmygrad and hexbear accounts blocked so I can't see the other replies to your comment but I bet it's a whataboutism against the US, isn't it?

Edit: lmao the downvotes tell me, yes, it's just whataboutism against the US because that's all they ever have to offer.

  • I imagine the same reason so many Americans think of the UK as just London, or France as just Paris. I don't know what that reason is, but I imagine it's probably the same reason.

  • It’s someone somewhere deciding what I can or can’t see on a remote host they have no control over.

I mean, they do have control over it in a sense. They can defederate from it so it's no longer on their instance, which they did. You can still access the community from other instances though, like you're doing now, so it's not really a big deal. This is how federation is meant to function. People running their instances by their own rules.

I agree though, their rationale for defederation from this community does not add up for me either. But at the end of the day they can be as irrational as they want with their instance.

  • One of my favorite joker moments in the comics! Always love seeing it posted.

  • Are we okay with this?

It's their instance, their rules. You can join another instance that doesn't defederate from them or make your own. That's the beauty of the fediverse design. It doesn't matter if we're okay with it, we have options to get around it unlike with centralized platforms.

  • I hope the DM let you roll against WIS or something.

Or at least raise an eyebrow and ask "Are you sure?" from behind the screen because that'll get any player to second guess what they're about to do.

  • As a former Texan, you'll never see Abbott do anything that might directly benefit the people instead of benefitting profit.

  • Totally agree, and yeah DS9 is my favorite trek as well (I'm actually watching it as I type this on my phone lol) so would love a revisit to the promenade.

But Picard season three was what I think TNG needed for a good wrap-up. It didn't blow me away but the final scene of the last episode was perfect for me.

  • This is Picard for me. I thought season one was alright, season two was hot garbage, but season three is what star trek fans had been waiting for all these years. Perfect conclusion, but boy was it rough getting there lol

  • It's like a Midwestern US word for surprise or exclamation, commonly used in place of "whoops" or even "oh". It's also common in Canada from my understanding. Somebody from lemmy.ca feel free to correct me there.

  • Unimpactful trait? I'd say if they put the toilet paper the wrong way, if you have to ask which way is the right way we can't be friends. Also if they don't return the shopping cart, instant way for me to lose respect for you.

  • I think your phalange is fine OP, keep on pruning 👍🐛

  • I think it's a meme from here tbh

Edit: wait, if it includes camera it would be this

  • China is bad

  • That's a very specific time line, you got something planned?
