I've actually found Bing to be way better than Google for a while now. It's not even close, idk what Google did to their search engine but it's pretty frustrating. It's all ads and irrelevant links.

Yeah, they make their bridges available for self hosting if you want to go that route too! Or you can just use their service if you don't want to mess with that (aka me lol).

Yeah, Beeper is what I use because I'm lazy. Having everything in one app so just too convenient.

On android, you can still select text on those pages from the switch apps screen (swipe up from the bottom, hold, then release on Pixels). Found that workaround on accident lol

Yeah, I'll give that a try and see if they can increase storage per user and what I'd need to do to help with the load. I didn't think to make the request on GitHub though, I'll definitely check to see if anybody else made that suggestion/request and put it in if not.

Running my own instance unfortunately isn't a feasible option for me at this moment in my life. I'll be looking into that in the future when I'm in a better spot but it's not an option for a lot of creatives. I may have the technical knowledge to run and upkeep an instance but most artists aren't that tech savvy. So this will remain a problem for Pixelfed attracting artists even if I run my own instance.

I wanted to pursue Pixelfed as an artist and post my work there but every instance I found seemed to have a 1GB storage limit which just isn't super viable long term. Maybe if they have a way where individuals can link their own cloud storage service or something? If the instance owners don't want to host all that media? That's the main thing holding me back from investing more energy into that platform for now though. I'd love to be able to get away from Instagram but for artists it's still pretty much required for anybody who wants to find clients (especially now with Twitter what it is).

Edit: some great suggestions in the replies, I'll follow up with instance admins and see what solutions I can find that way. As well as looking into the request on GitHub mentioned by Gabe. Thank you everyone ☺️

Everything you described is very common in fan fics and why I called it as such. I don't disagree with your points (most of them), but I do disagree with the severity of the condemnation for those points. I thought it was fine, not stellar, not terrible, it was fine and enjoyable for what it was. A high budget fan fic made by people who respected the lore but wanted to do their own take. Which is what Rankin/Bass and Jackson both did as well. Those are fun too. A huge amount of book fans were livid with Jackson for the changes he made in his adaptation too when the films released. If you think ROP is inaccurate then definitely don't go back and watch the Rankin/Bass cartoons, you might blow a gasket.

Yeah, I enjoyed my watch of LOTR: ROP. I'm a big Tolkien fan too. I read the trilogy and hobbit once a year and the silmarillion once every three or four (it's dense af). ROP wasn't an accurate adaptation, but it's a fun fan fic that I felt was respectful to original material. Plus it has some awesome visuals and great sound track. There's definitely things to criticize about it. It's far from a perfect show, but it's not bad. I'll probably do another watch through when the next season gets closer to being released.
