  • The goalpost was always win the elections. It hasn't moved since 2000, Dems just keep trying to redefine how far the endzone is while they field the B team that the franchise owners like instead of solid players the fans want to see.

  • If the Dems would have had a proper primary and campaigned on defined goals instead of nebulous feelings and orange man bad, they could have won.

The weak and poorly defined platform cost them 6 swing states. They pissed off the Amish and the Arabs, which really hurt them in Pennsylvania and Michigan. They didn't campaign for the Latino voters very well, which should have been a slam dunk given the deportation platform Trump had, which impacted the swing states considerably.

The Dems need to seriously rethink their strategy for 2028 or they are going to lose again. 2026 at this point is looking shaky in both directions, so the Dems need to get their shit together immediately if they are going to stop Rep issues progressing into a 2028 victory.

  • The two party system is so entrenched that voting 3rd party is a vote for the other guy that is bad. You wouldn't want to vote for the bad guy, so vote for our good guy instead of throwing away your vote on the 3rd party.

  • We absolutely need to go after FFLs that allow for guns to make it to the streets.

The biggest cause of firearms deaths is suicide, that can't be addressed by going after guns. You have to address all the other bigger problems. Doing so will also address suicide, mental health, economic prospects, and other causes of drug overdoses, crimes including murder, alcoholism, etc.

You can't address gun violence by going after guns, you need to go after the actual problems and not the symptom.

  • I know nothing about those, but at that price point you should not expect anything worthwhile.

You can get decent IR only monocular for $300-500, they won't hold a candle to a $3k NV monocular. You can get decent thermal only monocular for $300-500, it won't be anywhere near as good as a $3k one. You can't get a decent fusion monocular for $300-500, those cost $5k.

Nightvision and thermal optics are by once and cry once or get what you pay for.

  • In most of the country, anyone without a criminal record can buy a machine gun and doesn't need these trigger devices. Only 13 states have outright bans.

This is such a non-issue, you can convert an AR-15 to fire full auto with a coat hanger or two pieces of metal cut with a hacksaw and a file or a 3d printer. AK, AKS, Mini-14, M14, or M4 carbines can go full auto with only a shoelace. Then there is bump firing, you don't need a special stock to do that, some people accidentally do that just because they don't hold the rifle tight enough.

How about we work on why there is gun crime instead? Reduce the cost of living, increase wages on the bottom 50%, create better opportunities for small businesses, decrease the cost of higher education, promote trades as a career path, lower the cost of housing, increase the supply of low cost housing, improve public transit in urban areas, implement a severe progressive tax without loopholes, and build in-person community instead of allowing digital isolation through harassment.

  • "Real" NVs cost a fair bit and still have a narrow FOV. There are infrared digital binoculars and monoculars that can achieve 40° FOV or greater, but they won't be as good as a dual PVS on a head harness.

Like PVS-14s, the FOV is about 40 degrees for $5k per eye, giving 70° FOV for both eyes. For context, human FOV is 210-220 for both eyes on the horizontal plane.

There is a reason the top tier goggles, the GPNVG-18, uses 4 tubes to achieve 97° FOV at $50k for the set.

Your best cheap bet is a digital IR system that can be mounted on a head harness over one eye with a legit IR flashlight. That way your brain can merge the two visions and you don't lose the situational perception that causes many inexperienced troops to trip and fall over terrain.

  • Do you know nothing of county/state fairs and various city festivals? Crab and crawfish boils? Rodeos? School shootings? Taco Tuesday?

But seriously, you are framing culture in the context of race and that is un-American. American culture is all cultures that we integrate. Other countries that are more homogeneous in their heritage only have their culture from their heritage, America has their culture and like 5 other ones that we draw from to make a culture as diverse as our population. Americans, regardless of genetic heritage, enjoy a rich tapestry of culture as our culture.

Go to another country and try to find Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Indian, Ethiopian, Arabic, German, and Irish food. I can drive in a direction and hit all of those in any major American city and stop in somewhere for a burger or pizza. That is American culture.

Go to another country and try to celebrate the Chinese New Year, Eid, Hanukkah, Christmas, Holi, and Kwanza. I can do that every year. That is American culture.

You say that is everything and nothing, I say that is America and I am proud that we can't be so narrowly defined and have the freedom to enjoy all the cultures our people bring to the table.
