  • Nah I don't like this line of thinking. Reminds me of "Once a Criminal, Always a Criminal". Not very progressive in my opinion.

That being said, OP has been constantly putting "so I cheated" in every post, seems like agendaposting/trolling.

  • Desensitation, perhaps. Informations flows more freely now, you hear protests/riots/rebellions everywhere, it just feels "standard" nowadays.

I've seen so much conflict on the news from all around the world. BLM in the USA, Hong Kong anti-extradition, France retirement age increase related protests, Serbia peaceful protesters getting blasted with an energy weapon (yes the governement used an actual energy weapon, its not a conspiracy theory), "Freedom" Convoy in Canada, UK Xenobophic Race Riots, Syrian Civil War, Invasion of Ukraine, Israel-Palestine conflict and war crimes, etc...

    Conflict just became "normal".

  • SCOTUS being appointed isn't exactly the issue. It's the fact that only the senate can give input, and since the senate favors the right wing, its composition is biased. House has no say in this, and that's not very balanced.

Also 9 judges is too few, easily flipped in 1 administration we saw in 2017-2021.

  • Reminds me of history, when nazi germany and imperial japan would perform "reprisals", basically, they would arbitrally round up random non-combatants, most of them who aren't even resistance, and shoot them to death in "execution" style in public, as a way to "punish" resistance activities.

  • I doubt entrenched powers would let the mayor of the biggest US city actually do anything radical like what he campaigned for.

    Its called legislature.

You'd need like progressives to win enough seats to get a majority in city council.

If Bernie became President, he probably wouldn't have gotten much of the progressive agenda done, just look at the composition of congress. You'd need 50 progressive senators and 218 progressive representatives, it's a long shot. For NYC tho, that's probably a bit easier, but still, its 26 progressive city council members needed. Basically 26 simultaneous campaigns + the Mayor's Seat to actually transform the city.

  • Democrats won't get control of the Senate until 2029 January 3rd since the only seat the democrats can win in 2026 election is Maine and its currently 53-47, everything else is locked in place by the staggered election system of the Senate.

Winning the House can't stop the Judicial appointments that only the Senate has the power to reject
