  • It's everything your instance is aware of, yes.

  • I don't see why metal songs wouldn't be allowed, and I think technically this year is allowed too. I think this can be in the running.

  • Ok thanks, I'll give that a go 🙂

  • While the user bases of Piefed and Mbin are smaller, they should be included as they federate with Lemmy and interact with our communities.

The same is true of Mastodon but that's a lot harder to count since most Mastodon users are not interacting with Lemmy (since it's a different style of platform - microblog vs link sharing).

  • I mean, I kinda feel that's the least they could do.

  • I'm heating the milk by fully submerging the steam wand after creating the foam.

I have tried heating the jug until it's so hot I can't touch the bottom, and the end result is still a not-hot-enough coffee. My theory is the cup absorbs the heat. Did you pre-heat the cup when you were working in a cafe?

  • How would I do that. The steam wand?

  • The main VPS drive is currently using 330GiB of storage. Onsite and offsite backups are extra.

This is largely the image storage (266GB) and that's partly historical (Lemmy used to keep full size images indefinitely as "thumbnails" and currently has no way to delete them). The database itself is around 25GB.

  • Ok let's not discuss the other parties they are in a coalition with then 🫤.

  • That's a good reason. I guess when I'm directly writing SQL the queries are point in time and not part of some enduring codebase.

  • This particular politician/party have always been like this. Their leader has been in politics for decades and is a professional at staying in the news.

The party got 6% of the vote at the last election, they just happened to be needed in a three party coalition to be able to make a government with over 50% of parliament.

This bill is unlikely to get very far, but they know that and that's not the point.

  • They plan to move to sublinks, but it's still in development. So they said they will update to the latest version and also planning to update to 1.0 when released (planned for later this year) because their members are having trouble with apps etc after breaking changes.

There's an update post here: https://beehaw.org/post/18771220

  • More specifically I meant when I am writing in the language.

I don't write "SELECT * FROM users;", I write "select * from users;"

  • Not sure if joking but I meant the language not the acronym.

  • A person is unlikely to read it specifically but they will be looking for trends. I hope you used lots of good keywords.

  • Do people actually write SQL in all caps? Ever since I was a boy I've always written SQL (and HTML) in lower case.

  • People who did upgrade would have found regressions in several of those versions.

We're on 0.19.8 so just one version behind that I need to get around to updating, but before that there were a string of versions with known issues.

Lemmy is not even version 1 yet, it's risky to update to a new version straight away.

  • OK so I think I've got black coffee going alright with my espresso machine. The grind, tamping, extraction time and volume of espresso seem right.

But I am seriously struggling with a milky coffee. I can froth up the milk with the steam wand fine, and heat it until the jug feels quite hot, but when I put it into the mug the coffee just isn't that warm. I have tried heating it like crazy and it doesn't seem to keep the heat. I always end up having to microwave it for 20 seconds.

Anyone got any tips on how to make a hot milky coffee? Should I be heating the mug?

  • Peters is known to stir up trouble, and is a brilliant politician in the worst way.

The current government is a coalition of egos that was always tenuous from day 1.

I don't think you can argue our government is "cool" right now. Like many other countries, there was a hard swing to the right in the post COVID fallout.

  • A lot fewer possibilities than that! No special characters, all lower case, it was a word in the dictionary.

    Those were different times.
