There are time limits built in to the algorithm for calculating your score, that are there because of the agencies themselves and by legislation. Even the negative effects of a bankruptcy completely clear after a given amount of time. One suspects, in fact, if this person DID have negative factors affecting their credit, it would not have been reset to zero. There would have been a timer clicking away to keep feeding the account algorithm with fresh data.

Scary, reading some of the posts herein, how some people (many?) have absolutely no idea how credit reporting agencies or your credit score actually work. The term 'clueless' comes to mind.

Your response to my post makes absolutely no sense, unless you are a chatbot. My post has nothing to do with credit or a credit report, it has to do with a glitch in the coding of Lemmy itself. Two identical posts - posted at the same time by the same person using exactly the same URL and heading.

It never goes to zero because of bad debt. Even bankruptcy will never take it to zero. There is something very remiss about the 'facts' that you are trying to convince us are true.

The discussion in both could get confusing. Someone may look in the wrong post for a follow-up. Any way the two posts could get combined, since they are both by the same author? Or maybe warn the posters in one tat it is going to be deleted, and refer them to the second post?

By reducing his score to zero, effectively wiping out his entire credit history, they have completely stolen his identity and taken it completely away from him?

Let's clarify some literary terms.

Sci-fi means Science Fiction, or general sciences particularly. Emphasis on the general sciences as a major element in the fiction. Soc-Com refers to Social Commentary. Emphasizes discussing or hypothesizing some element of Social Science as opposed to General Science. Soc-Fi refers to 'Social Science' Fiction, not to be confused with 'general science' Fiction. It is primarily Social Commentary fiction in a fictional setting, sometimes incidentally using some principles of general science manipulation in the setting.

Many people get these terms confused and intermingle them. Some books actually do cross over.

Ray Bradbury wrote a lot of really good Sci-Fi. He also wrote some good Soc-Com or Soc-Fi and many tried to pretend it was still Sci-Fi. Fahrenheit 451 for example, was good Soc-Fi. Not much 'Science' in it, but a whole lot of 'Social' in it.

When I was in high school the English department tried to convince me A Canticle for Leibowit was Sci-Fi and not Soc-Com or Soc-Fi. The science in it was horrible.

That would explain it, then.

Typical American obfuscation. Your posts are completely irrelevant to the topic. Only 'doom and gloom' I read in the article is the doom and gloom of America.

It is the ffinancialization of America - the concept that the American population can grow strong and prosperous by making money on money rather than by making things that has completely destroyed the economic foundation of the American working (formerly middle) economic level. Only those who are already rich can 'make' more money.

Hopefully, Canadians will have a LONG memory.
