  • lol seriously. In the real world, the vast majority of people would assume AGI stands for adjusted gross income. I’m surprised at the number of people that think CBT means cock and ball torture ahead of cognitive behavioral therapy.

  • For a second I thought you were talking about the sugar cane shanty towns in Florida. But despite living in one room shacks with broken foundations and corrugated steel roofs, the cane cutter families do have functional plumbing and sewage.

  • I AM a lawyer, and from what I can see, you're close but (perhaps unintentionally) misrepresenting the facts, unless you are referring to some other previous action. A judge this week decided to allow a case to proceed that will determine, amongst other things, whether the events of January 6 “constituted an insurrection” and whether Trump “engaged” in insurrection.

  • One of the few times you will see state law enforcement enforcing federal copyright/trademark law is when weed companies make products like "Stoner Patch Kids" - which honestly is probably good for the industry, as it helps remove arguments that such knock-offs/brand parodies cause confusion in the marketplace/run the risk of inadvertent consumption (by... Children!!! (pearl clutching commences)).

  • Once I hit my 40s, massive home diy projects have either become necessities (too expensive to hire out), pipe dreams, or like PA DOT working on route 202 in my youth (never ending with incremental steps that never improve the experience of driving). The energy loss is off the hook, and I’m not a flubbynutter.

  • Sounds more than anything like a couple trying to establish grounds for divorce back in the day when no fault divorce didn’t exist. You had to claim abandonment or infidelity or some other fault to give yourself standing for divorce.

  • Just like every communist revolution has led to a better life for all, including the millions purged. You're off your rocker if you think your revolution won't lead to just a wall for countless numbers of people.

  • One knock-on effect for me is that encountering those folks on here made me want to triple check my tone and emotionality when I post or comment. I absolutely want this to be a better place than reddit, and I constantly find myself going back through my comments, editing to add corrections, or outright deleting them if I realize in hindsight I was being a cranky asshole. I've got to admit, I've even appreciated the notification-free moderation here - if I got into a fight with someone and our lack of civility broke the rules, I'm happy when a mod wipes out both of our offending comments. Nine times out of ten it takes out the comment that caused me to fight in the first place. And as heated as I can get, after going on an online tear, afterwards I usually feel terrible for being driven by anger. And angry posts almost never do anything except stroke my ego.
