  • Shareholders and politics.

    Shareholders for Reddit, for sure, since they went public recently. What made the platform what it is will be censored until shareholders are happy. Users will be a second thought, or already are.

    Politics because billionaires hate to pay taxes, so they'll do anything to be in the good graces of politicians.

    I'm glad we have alternatives now at least.

  • In a struggling company that's trying to seem like a good nonprofit? Not usually, no. Or at least it's ill advised. When the Google money stops or goes down, and they're looking for donations... It'll be hard to get people on board with financing that salary.

  • I mean, I see their point, but it's still a bad take. At the end of the day, this monopoly needs to be broken up. Also, have they tried not hiring a bunch of new executives and capping CEO pay at 300 000?

  • We should nationalize the internet network, and make it reach these communities ourselves. If Bell Rogers and Telus couldn't get it done in decades, that means the oligopoly is too advanced and they're getting complacent.
