Shareholders and politics.

Shareholders for Reddit, for sure, since they went public recently. What made the platform what it is will be censored until shareholders are happy. Users will be a second thought, or already are.

Politics because billionaires hate to pay taxes, so they'll do anything to be in the good graces of politicians.

I'm glad we have alternatives now at least.

I knew this whole hype was way overblown. This AI is "good" but not replace every employee with it good.

It would be funny if we made one thread of praise for Luigi, and fill it with replies to all get banned at the same time. A huge drop in users all of a sudden, sounds fun.

In Canada, most provinces do this already.

OK, but then they rely on donations or info selling for ads. Is that really better? I sure won't foot the bill for the ceo's multi million salary.

Look, they're dumb and this isn't impossible, but this would mean a complete crash of the US economy overnight. It's the least likely thing, and this one source is probably wrong or lying.

That's the saddest part, I loved my 3dtv until they stopped making media for it. It was a fun gimmick, but I was definitely not "most consumers" lol

In a struggling company that's trying to seem like a good nonprofit? Not usually, no. Or at least it's ill advised. When the Google money stops or goes down, and they're looking for donations... It'll be hard to get people on board with financing that salary.

The CEO salary being around 7 millions, plus the newly added executives... Yeah.

I mean, I see their point, but it's still a bad take. At the end of the day, this monopoly needs to be broken up. Also, have they tried not hiring a bunch of new executives and capping CEO pay at 300 000?

I haven't tried it, but Iceraven has a lot of extensions available compared to Firefox. Maybe there is one to do exactly what you need?

Soon we will see it happen to Discord. It will be pretty awful.

We should nationalize the internet network, and make it reach these communities ourselves. If Bell Rogers and Telus couldn't get it done in decades, that means the oligopoly is too advanced and they're getting complacent.

Authoritarianism is by the leader of a state or a territory, not by some random dude on Lemmy. Seriously go read the Wikipedia page at least.
