I've been looking for work lately and getting told the same thing by the employment offices around me (job search assistance).

It feels so bizarre and pushy to email back after an application/interview. I showed up and did my part, the balls in their court now, I'm just waiting for a response. To reach out again seems like I'm leaning over their shoulder and asking 'have you made a decision yet??? How about now, can I have a job now?'

They already know what I want, what I can offer, and how to reach me. What more do they need?

I've had some good ones and bad ones. Most of the thin plastic film ones are a total waste of time, but there are some really nice gorilla glass screen protectors that will stand up to a whole lot of abuse.

Yeah, the screens are really tough, but they're still glass. They will still break if you manage to drop/hit them at the right angle with enough force. A screen protector makes sure that force isn't directly on the screen. A broken screen protector is much easier/cheaper to replace than the screen.

A really good one, applied properly; you should essentially never even notice is there, but adds an extra layer of protection for when you do inevitably drop the device.

Poor quality or poorly applied protectors can be a PITA; interfering with touch detection, air bubbles, scratching really easily, crappy glue, sometimes even comming off during use. You get what you pay for.

I haven't really noticed scratches on any device with a decent protector in several years, but I don't keep things like keys in the same pocket either. They aren't perfect though; I've broken at least two phone screens through the glass screen protector without breaking the protector itself...

Still, better to have that little bit of extra protection.

Good to see she included the Sheriff in her lawsuit. The state failed to press charges against him; despite him making first contact, threatening to pepper spray her, physically assaulting her himself, then ultimately giving the order for unidentified private security to remove her.

Where in the world did you get that idea?

VPNs serve three functions:

• add a layer of encryption so your local network operator and ISP can't inspect your traffic, its contents and its true destination. (this is what OP is looking for)
• make it appear to the service you are connecting to, that you are connecting from a different location than where you actually are. (for example make Netflix think you're in a different region to show you different content)
• provide secure access to private services that are not exposed directly to the Internet. IE securely connecting devices on seprate LAN networks together over the Internet via an encrypted tunnel. This is a VPNs true purpose and how they are primarily used in Professional/Comercial settings. (pretty much every corporation you've ever interacted with runs a VPN that connects its stores/warehouses/offices together)
