  • Camping or Outdoorsy shops may have rubber mallets that are used to knock in tent pegs and similar. Not so hard as to be too easy to bend metal pegs or break plastic ones, but sturdy enough to be able to provide the force to knock them into hard ground.

  • The article seems to suggest a change on the Google search algo and how Reddit pumps the SEO is to blame as it's showing up in search rankings above other more relevant results.

I'm assuming "traffic" here is individual page visits, which would shoot up if people are just pulling up one page from a "how do I do X" type of search. I doubt this boost is coming from people sticking around, but I'm sure that's not how Reddit will spin it.

My money is on a self-signed SSL certificate used in the back end somewhere expired. Some SAML setup or something that everyone forgot about.

  • "I'm not a photojournalist," Mr Kaye tells me from his radio studio.

"I'm not out there taking pictures of what's really happening. I'm a storyteller."

"I just happen to be telling fictional stories about real people, but deliberately not telling anyone."

  • Ah yes, the solution in a mass shooting event is to make sure there are more panicked, armed civilians fearing for their lives around the place.

When you have bloodthirsty police who are scared of acorns in the mix too this is just going to lead to dead teachers.

  • It's going to drive the AI into madness as it will be trained on bot posts written by itself in a never ending loop of more and more incomprehensible text.

It's going to be like putting a sentence into Google translate and converting it through 5 different languages and then back into the first and you get complete gibberish

  • Gimme an open world game where I'm the terminator and I'm tracking down my Sarah Connor equivalent and doing various covert or not so covert actions that lead to the creation and rise of skynet.

If I'm defeated I'm taken back to a new machine body in the future to see the effects of my timeline meddling, pick up a new target and head back into the past and the open world.
