  • They’re fixing security issues left and right. Could be them being more diligent for once, could be more exploits that need urgent fixing.

  • lol no problem, the way this was reported definitely made it seem like this was something new when it was really not.

  • Uhh just to clear up a misunderstanding, Apple and everyone else already scans your photos in the cloud and compares them to a pre-curated hash of known CSAM. What Apple was trying to do was do the scans on-device instead, for photos outbound to Apple’s iCloud. Supposedly, this was to make sure that your photos weren’t directly scanned by Apple themselves.

  • What an absolute joke. Just let people work from home, you absolute dinosaurs.

  • It’s not cemented into the chassis lol, Apple replaces it for $99 or you can just buy the part from ‘em and replace it yourself.

  • I care. This thing’s already thick and heavy enough, and I don’t particularly care about popping the back off my phone to replace a battery. It’s like…once every two years that I have to replace it.

  • Eh, I don’t particularly care how ‘culturally charged’ it is, nor do I feel like forcing myself to watch something for a reason like that. I just don’t care enough about Barbie for it to be worth it.

  • On the bright side, people like him are unlikely to be happy with what they have. He’ll spend the rest of his life dreaming about the billions he ‘lost’, rather than being satisfied with the obscene amount of wealth he already has.

  • I mean, wouldn’t be too out-there. How many Americans are living paycheck to paycheck with some sort of massive debt? How many can’t afford to have any assets? How many more accrue even greater debt to either survive, or drop money they don’t have on shit they don’t need (like that latest BMW) just so they can keep up with the Joneses?

  • Again, I did say there was a difference. Also, these were most certainly Democrats.

  • Yeah, and the most accessible too; meaning a lot of people who would love to mess around with their cars to get more value for their money.

  • It uses pull-tab adhesive, which even most Right-to-Repair advocates consider ‘sufficiently repairable’. When it comes to glue, Samsung’s worse by a mile.

  • With Apple, people generally let it slide because electronics aren’t as expensive and don’t last as long. Cars, on the other hand, are extraordinarily expensive and they’re supposed to last a lot longer than a phone.

Plus, at least Apple doesn’t (for example) charge you extra just to ‘unlock’ more performance on your phone.

  • Imagine being able to retrofit these with solid-state batteries when they’re a thing. These hackable 3s might someday go for a premium.

  • What’s horrifying to me isn’t that VW used ‘everyone does it’ as a defense, it’s that multiple carmakers are apparently gassing monkeys for emission tests.

  • There’s just so many of these fuckos who want everyone except themselves to RTO.

  • Holy fucking shit, those people sound like the scum of the Earth. How the fuck do they live with themselves?
