  • Yeah, those seem cool, although probably still not something for my inept ass to use but it's nice to see products like these starting to pop up. Some are also not too insanely priced either. Anyone who did some benchmarks comparing them to just regular consumer gpus yet? I couldn't find anything.

  • As if an unfinished release wasn't bad enough, the whole 30 FPS justification just left a really bad taste in my mouth. Given their prices for their games + DLCs this should have not been necessary.

  • I think KoboldAI runs locally, but like many current AI tools it's a pain in the ass to install, especially if you're on Linux, especially if you're using AMD GPUs. I wonder if we'll see some specialized AI related cards to slot into our pci ports or something. Not a whole lot of necessary options to fill them nowadays anyway. I'd also be interested in local AI voice changers too. Maybe even packaged like a Roland VT-4 voice transformer that sits between your mic & whatever audio other audio interface you might be using, where you just throw the trained voice models onto the device and it does all the real time computing for you.

I'm sure things get more refined over the next years though.

  • Spotify is still the worst in that regard. It even loves to constantly repeat the same 5 songs or so, at least before I quit the damn thing. Winamp has done this better a couple decades ago already, among many other features.

  • I have decade old tubes. Maybe some bits around the entrance can dry out if you didn't clean them after use but it doesn't seem to be an issue for mine as far as the inside stuff goes (of course I put the cap back on as well).

  • Remember when a bunch of instances banned nsfwlemmy because they allegedly allowed pedo content, when in truth they just decided to not moderate fictional characters where the age was not obvious (like potentially 18, but plus / minus a couple years)?

I think especially Lemmy.ml should rather focus more on cleaning up their Tankie & moderator issues instead of chasing ghosts, because that instance is a toxic cesspool of assholes and disinformation.

  • I'm currently on Nobara after EndeavourOS nuked itself and having the pleasure of experiencing their toxic community. I'm even considering going back to Manjaro at this point because that was still the most stable Linux experience I had. Maybe their website cert handling sucks but at least my system was running stable, for much longer at that.
