While I agree with the general sentiment, it’s interesting to see just how many more people are out there talking shit about Queen Elizabeth only now that she’s gone. Lots of people could only find their courage after the bully left.
Nah, good zombie fiction, at least for my taste, requires that the zombies aren’t the main focus of the story. Sure, they’re there, and they’re the most omnipresent threat, the whole reason the world is the way it is; but they should be background stuff, for the most part. What you really want is to focus more on something like, I dunno, man’s inhumanity to man or something like that.
In this case, having a zombie-savvy cast can actually massively improve some of the more hard-hitting moments. For example: instead of choosing to shoot the bad guy or leave him stranded in the desert, the choice is shoot him in the head to give him a quick and painless or do the practical thing and not waste the ammo when the zombies everywhere will do the job just fine. Slower and more painfully, but it’ll get done just the same.
Ladies and gentlemen, a prime example of exactly why people don’t switch to Linux.
The loudest portion of the community are insufferable twats, and you know it’s bad because I’m an insufferable twat and I’m calling this one out on it.
To this day, I don’t understand how this wasn’t the end of it. I mean, logically I know people just refused to believe it because they wanted to win (or they felt the same damn way), but I just can’t comprehend being so wrapped up in the fight that this doesn’t deserve at least a bit more of a look than, “Oh, it’s something negative about my candidate. It can’t be true,”
Yeah, cause if you think of it… it’s a goddamn mine, and an old one at that. Things are going to crash and clatter around if you leave it for a while. That noise is something to check out, sure, but nothing to get worked up over. Just send Gurj out to make sure it didn’t fall on anyone when he finishes with his manflesh steak.
Now, someone hollering in the language of one of your hated enemies? That’s something to call at least a scouting party out for. Especially when it comes immediately after the aforementioned clanging around, because that could easily be an invading force.
Free speech means the government can’t stop you from saying something. It does not mean you have the right to be heard, or even to force people to listen, or that private companies (like Lemmy) can’t remove your ability to post to their platform. Hell, it doesn’t even mean you can say whatever you want without consequences, which can range from being blocked to being banned all the way up to being arrested if it’s a threat.
So, feel free to say whatever you want, just don’t be surprised when you lose your ability to post.
