  • It’s the kind of thing that happens when a space gets big - the original purpose and culture of that space is gradually diluted and overwritten by what’s popular until it’s been washed away completely and is no different than what it was trying to distinguish itself from.

Frankly, it’s a phenomenon that I think the world could do without, but I can’t do much about it until the next harvest blood moon, when my powers are at their peak.

  • Basically indestructible soles and insoles in terms of wear and tear, and an indestructible in general toe cap. Soft enough insoles to cushion, but firm enough to support. Light enough to use everywhere without feeling like I’m walking on King Kai’s planet. Self-tightening laces and mouth. GPS tracking in case I can’t find them or someone’s stolen them.

  • The only excuse for bombing a hospital is equipment malfunction, and even then, it’s merely enough to bring it down from “act of supreme evil, shoot the bastard” to “dishonourable discharge and prison time for negligence”.

  • A Boston accent is different from a New York accent, is different from a Missouri accent, is different from a Mississippi accent, is different from a Florida accent, is different from a Texas accent, is different from an Oklahoma accent, etc. Even within states, it fully depends on how rural you live, whether you went to college… hell, even your tax bracket in some cases.

I say this as an Australian that grew up in America: the sheer size of the place is enough to have something like fifty regional accents per state. Like everything with the US: it’s fucking insane.
