  • I’ve used an IKEA lightning cable for years and treated it really badly and it’s still in perfect condition. The official lightning cable from Apple had to be replaced every two years (it’s my employer’s phone and we upgrade every two years, stupid waste) because it was always destroyed and I had to give it back in perfect condition.

The quality is also a factor.

  • I really hope that something gets done about games not being playable anymore. This is really important for the sake of our hobby and clearly not acceptable.

I could understand how multiplayer games would be harder to maintain 20 years after their release, but there is no excuse for solo games.

  • I really don’t see the point, but I’m not against it as long as it doesn’t lower anything we’d be getting on normal ps5.

At least for the ps4 and ps4 Pro, I didn’t feel like the ps4 pro created a problem for regular ps4 games.

  • While I guess what you’re saying is true, I haven’t been confronted with such things during my 1-2 years on Lemmy. It also depends on the communities you subscribe to and political ones are probably more subjected to violence than others.

  • I also discovered that these are pretty cheap and really upgradeable while looking great.

I would never buy anything from Apple new, but old Mac Pro or MacBook Pro are really tempting.

Converted my fiancée ´s 2012 MacBook Pro to Linux two years ago and it’s a great machine which shouldn’t be collecting dust.

Sometimes people underestimate the treasures they have lying around 😅

  • Sometimes making an iThing (iPhone) work with another iThing (Fiancée ´s Apple TV) isn’t as easy as it should. Streaming the nba app from my phone to the Apple TV was a nightmare a few years ago. Now I just use my PlayStation as the nba is hostile to Linux even in a browser.

So, taking into account the fact that Linux is free and works on almost any hardware, I can only congratulate the people making Linux possible.

  • I love the ps5 controller but I’m now kind of scared about stick drift as one of mine had to be replaced because of it.

The second one doesn’t show any sign of this happening, but I’m not so confident anymore although Sony had never disappointed me before regarding reliability.

  • It’s crazy because I think this game had people paying more to get it earlier than others.

These people should be highly compensated, like getting some future free games or stuff like this.

I’m not a Ubi Soft hater as I’ve enjoyed some of their games through the years (Watch Dogs 1, Assassin’s Creed 1-2, Splinter Cell), but such things make me understand why people hate them.

  • I think people give too much importance to such things.

I’m not saying 60fps isn’t nice, but it ain’t the most important thing and I feel like drawing distance or stuff like this are more distracting.

For me it’s crazy to still have racing games where shadows or trees are still appearing too late or where things are just abnormally disappearing in the rear view mirror.

  • Fedora on Surface Go 1 with Surface kernel:

I never uses it only as a tablet except on holidays if I watch a movie on a hotel bed. It spends most of its time linked to a big screen, but I’m really happy with it except for how slow it is to pick up my mouse Bluetooth signal or the fact that the battery is often depleted for no reason when I turn the Surface on.

It is my only PC and is powerful enough to do everything I need it for, which is admin, web browsing and old strategy games.

  • Lovely game with a great story!

The downside was that the interviews were sometimes a bit awkward and you were supposed to use non verbal cues to get clues about someone lying or not. It was a tad too ambitious I guess, as even in real life you can’t really guess.

  • This game is really great and its length make it enjoyable many times.

I played 2 years ago when I was still on PlayStation 4 and it looked great.

The soundtrack is also great to listen to.

One of my favorite FOS of the last decade with the killzone and wolfenstein series.
