  • No but if you "just want to make cool and fun games" you wouldn't fund Gears 5 or Halo Infinite now would you?

  • I don't think that :/ I think his statements and the games he chooses to back sort of prove that ultimately profit is what he is interested in. I don't blame him for that. But don't make him out to be what he isn't. He is a CEO first, being a fan of games falls lower on the list.

  • I get the first part of the joke (klingons were on the Enterprise during the Tribble episode) but don't get the bit with O'Brian

  • Yeah and there are tons of angles and gestures for human subjects that AI just can't figure out still. Any time I've seen a "stunning" AI render it's some giant FOV painting with no real subject or the subject takes up a 12th of the canvas.

  • I haven't played Timberborn but I almost did pick it up on the spring sale, decided to get dotAGE instead to see what all the fuss was about and damn I love it. It's a lot more of a worker placement game and is a roguelike so if that doesn't interest you it might not be for you but damn it's good so far.

  • If it helps try thinking of it as a "boomer shooter" because of the proliferation of rockets and rocket physics in classic games like Unreal and Quake

  • Exactly. Even if the impacts of the national economy were felt among the average voter most presidents shouldn't actually influence the market much at all anyway. Trumps solitary mission in office was to loosen regulations on corpos though so he, in fact, did help the economy to the detriment of pretty much everything else. It's an idiotic metric, countries aren't businesses and saying "profit levels are down 18% :(" is meaningless when profit levels have been steadily ascending to disgusting heights for decades.

  • He's saying that by saying "if we make an exception for you we have to make an exception for everyone" you are not even entertaining the notion that the person you make an exception for just keeps it a secret.

  • It's a weird kind of thing because if he had bailed out on his charges then he would be waiting for court proceedings and couldn't be touched but he didn't bail out he was released, so the trial had concluded and he had been serving his sentence and was then released conditionally by this magistrate judge only to be picked up again? Technically the warrant itself does fly but I don't see how the charges stick when he has already been tried for them. I assume there isnt any new evidence or new counts but perhaps I'm wrong. Sometimes people can be reprosecuted if it's determined that the original trial was somehow faulty but usually not so quickly as they have to gather a case for retrial together. So basically this is really weird.

  • This is now the 4th time they're trying? Give it up already...

  • I dunno I love Disco Elysium but that company can fuck right off. They wrestled away the IP from the original creators and the sequel was certain to be a confused hack job with no sense of what made the original so special. The game is definitely worth playing but it's hard to advocate giving them any money when none of it goes to the artists who made it :

  • My partner and I do all the regular couple stuff for Valentines. Write eachother cards and little gifts, a nice dinner etc. But we also spend a week or two making art together, just little drawings and what not, and we turn them all into stickers and give them to our friends like Valentines in elementary school. It's our way of sharing the love and making the holiday more about all kinds of love, not just romantic love.

  • I think it sounds to me like it just isn't your thing. What you're describing as a frustration is what I love about Elden Ring, you have to figure out every enemy and learn their patterns in order to succeed so every enemy is like it's own little puzzle to solve. There's no secret to avoid that part of the game besides maybe building INT and just avoiding fights which does not sound fun tbh

  • Pretty sure that was a teaser for OD, his upcoming horror project currently in dev. I don't think Physint is yet being made.

  • I definitely would love to see a rework of the network stack at large but idk how you'd do it without an insane amount of cooperation among tech giants which seems sort of impossible

  • They "supported" a bill that they immediately circumvented, yeah. They had no interest in protecting right to repair they just wanted the PR. It should surprise no one that they're opposed to actual bills that force them to alter their business practices.

  • These companies tend to own or have long term leases, so either they are stuck paying rent and have to justify the expense or they own an asset that is depreciating in value and they could stop that from happening by spending no money to force their employees back into the office. You have to think about the big money, too. Real estate is a cornerstone asset for big money, many banks and real estate empires hold these enormous office buildings and society trending towards WFH means those buildings are rapidly losing their value.

  • God I loved that game, my partner loved watching me play it too which is super rare lol
