unquestionably using this to crack down on dissenters
That's a typical tactic used by these authoritarian type regimes, but I haven't heard anyone focusing on that. Can you point us to any reporting on this?
Yeah, the arresting people based on tattoos seems extreme af.
I'm curious how this whole ordeal is gonna be looked at in the next 5-10 years. I doubt there will be as positive of an outlook about it, but for the sake of El Salvadorans, I hope this mellows out in their favor.
Yeah, from everything I've heard, the people are loving the effect Bukele is having on the country. Guy sounds like he'ssuccessfully dancing the razors edge of cracking down on gangs without destroying the lives of innocents.
While I generally disagree with authoritarian governments, it really looks like this is the template for what authoritarian regimes can actually accomplish with a benevolent leader in charge.

Yeah, I think that's a reasonable expectation from the service. The notion that it's an end-all-to-beat-all service is foolish, but when properly incorporated into an otherwise robust personal protection plan, it can probably help with security.
I do think this video lays out a clear case that Proton is not as open and anonymity focused as it could be. While going from those facts to a postulation that it's a fed honey pot is probably a stretch, to use this as grounds to say "Proton isn't as trustworthy as they claim to be" seems reasonable.
Not a "real home improvement" guy, but my dad added radiant barriers to his attic some year back. I want to say he said he saw a ~15% reduction in AC usage back then which reduced the ~$300 bill (in peak summer) by about $50.
Radiant barriers always seemed like a low hanging fruit solution to help with summer cooling.
It took someone with a room temperature IQ expressed in Rankine (530-540) to make this meme.
