Thats the thing, with a small adaptor that has no logic/silicon, usb-a device is fully compatible with a usb-c port. And things like framework solved this issue ages ago to make hardware expose either, or both, usb-c and usb-a...
If anything, i think the usb-c price might be why its nowhere to be seen. However, with the eu laws that might change in the next 8y, but i doubt it as usb-c to usb-a are a thing
Sale tax is everywhere. And still, if its a static amount per state, why not include it on the sticker price so you know exactly how much you will be paying?
Inventory and sticker work is done by computers, they know the price ...
As a european, not knowing and legit asking: isnt that the thing all over the usa? I mean, you pick up something at the store, go to the counter and then SUPRISE, tax is added on top of the price.
Like, that also feels like sneaking in extra costs?
Id need to read the whole law ( as we all should if we were to discuss it ), but everyone says trust the certificate, etc.
We can trust the certificate, but if the hostname does not match the certificate's domains, you can ( and should ) deny it. Law doesnt say to trust the connection if a parameter is wrong, it says that browsers should consider certs provided by the government CA to be legit.
The only mitm that can be done is at the server itself or in a website pretending to be the requested server. But for this to work you need to have the private and public keys of the server you want to act like.
... Aka, government can read your data just as easily as facebook, google, pornhub or whatever.
The only thing this changes is that a government can easily issue a new cert without having to wait, and deal with e-ids easier.
As a european i have very mixed feelings about the new law, but the reactions are ,imo, a bit overrated because there is a lot more factors that go into secure connections than just the cert
From my perspective it was ease of use. I remember back in the day ( ~2009 ) that youtube became the defacto standard because its ui was simple, it loaded quickly, it was straight to the point, free, didnt require login and you could upload content straight from your android phone after recording it. So sharing was pretty much instant.
After that they came up with policies to help people create actual content ( reward content that had thought put into it, reward creators etc ) which helped with the rise of quality content and make youtube in the youtube it was today.
I always wondered how much of the profit is going to who.
Like, is hasbro making 80% of the profit? Habro 20%, wotc another 20% ( despite hasbro owning wotc) ? How much is larian actually cashing in on?
Looks good, i like it.
I love how ai always seems to fuckup something around the hands, and with wolverine its always the claws lol.
Nearly there though, and i love the vibe
Thats too bad. I dont plan on buying a new phone in , at least, 6 years so itll have to wait then.
I know fairphone might look to be slow on driver update, but afaik they skipped a few versions to go straight to android 13. And i also know they try to maintain their own drivers so they provide support even if the soc vendor doesnt.
Its a very complex thing tbh, but ill keep grapheneOS on my radar!
Just did some research as it all sounds very good, and they dont support the fairphone 4. Some of their arguments are legit ( missing cpu features ), some of them are questionable ( fairphone not releasing security patches fast enough. Idk, lineagoeos seems to release weekly together with the android releases? ).
Guess ill have to look at grapheneOS at the future when i look at a new phone ( so in 7 or 8 years lol )
Ive never used grapheneOS tbh. Should give it a go someday then!
Ive always used LineageOS, and installed the nano google services package afterwards. Time to shake it up a bit if i can i suppose! ( i do use android auto, but with voice app disabled )
Maps and earth are ok at best, other businesses were better but then google bought them ( cough waze cough ). Translate is meh and deepl is better. Android is okish, but only if you use stock, lineageOS or GrapheneOS with at most minimal google services. Gmail... I never use.
They were services that started out nice, but got bloated with ad and spying over the years that theyve become meh at most in my book, sadly
