  • Looks like he stopped aging somewhere around '02.. then 2022 opened his eyes.

  • I think he always believed his own hype. Heck there was a point where I was somewhat into his hype.

Though I never liked Tesla's interior design philosophy of "just put all the controls on a giant tablet and call it a day"

Truth is we didn't know enough about him to gain an opinion. So imaginations ran wild. I mean there are people who have been saying how bad he was since the whole PayPal thing. It's just those companies weren't big enough at the time for it to gain any gravity in the public eye.

Then Tesla and spaceX happened, and people thought what he was doing was awesome, because a lot of it was and it was easy to look past the parts that weren't.

Now however the fact he can't keep his mouth shut and has become a twitter addict has kinda ruined our public opinion on him. If he had just stayed quiet and not bothered with the whole buying twitter thing, people might not care much about him. And the Epstein stuff and affairs and shit didn't help him one bit. He's right to mistrust the media - that shit is like a gourmet breakfast for them.

Basically he revealed himself in the public for what he truly is. A cold blooded greedy ass tycoon with an ego the size of the planets he's trying to colonise, with a modern style nerd-hipster science theming and old school conservative ideals.

  • Though usually not long after that point you start to ask yourself "Why the fuck did I get myself into this mess"

  • At least untill you refactor something, and the act of refactoring, even though it shouldn't logically cause any problems, causes everything to break.

  • Maybe they should be forced to sell their original house when they have to move to DC. It seems like the fact that they end up having to have 2 houses and all the expenses that go with it is the crux of the problem. Especially when DC is probably more than twice as expensive.

Either that or you provide low cost row houses in DC for congresspeople that need accommodation in both places, so they can keep their original housing and not have to worry about paying for a house in DC Sort of like a hotel solely for congresspeople. Then you just require every congressperson to use the rowhousing unless their home city is already DC.

  • And enforcement of legislation - can't get caught fucking around if the legislation is not enforced or enforceable.

  • I would only count the ones that aren't locked down and you can get into the Linux kernel and root user.

That said the low specced laptops might as well be large size mobile phones.

  • Not true in Australia - it more depends on package size - larger packages and niche packages are more likely to have shipping that's often more expensive than the price of the item, especially if it has to be shipped overseas. Prime give me more options to buy these items with free shipping without paying more than double.

  • My prime sub is more for free delivery on packages, rather than their shitty prime video service.

That said my dad does get some use out of it.

  • I wouldn't call that "desktop" Linux.

  • I don't like Google or apple anymore. Granted apples walled garden approach was never appealing to me. But google antics lately have just sucked the joy out of things. It's like they're trying to hinder me at every turn. Just give me a phone with an operating system that I can control, with all the apps I need. Why has that become so hard. Android is good because it has all the apps. But Google's been trying to lock it down tighter than a ticks ass since they introduced safetynet.

  • You know its possible to hold turds for so long you start vomiting shit.

  • The big question is, would they have gone bankrupt if they had been allowed to hire you?

  • Meanwhile here in Adelaide...A drizzle of rain and a top of 18C

    What. The. Fuck.

  • Try the same temp on Christmas day...

Where's my Australian Scorcher of a Christmas?

  • This flowchart is wrong.

If I follow this reasoning, I should be running windows. I am not running windows, Ergo, either it is incorrect or I am incorrect. And I refuse to believe I'm incorrect.

  • Because the vast majority of people don't have a reason to do it. They've never used Linux before - heck there are people who have never heard of it before.

The other thing is you and I, chances are can find a use for our old machines, have a place to store it, or know how valuable it currently is. Most other people aren't aware of how parts or entire systems depreciates, don't have a use for a second computer, and can't afford the storage space to store a spare PC for a backup. They also don't really have time to do a lot of research on the issue or just plain old don't care.

So what do they do? Well there only remaining option is to throw it away, maybe theyll be a bit wise and take it to an electronics recycler, where you have to trust it won't get thrown away anyway.

  • Alright, now we're moving towards a stir fry, ngl kinda want a stir fry rn now.
