Yeah, it’s weird because I distinctly remember them touting it as a dev kit at the launch event last year, yet there’s nothing at all about that on the website now.

You could argue that the 5th gen iPod Classic was when it really hit its stride.

Sure, it had been wildly successful until that point, but I have a 4th gen, and as beautiful as it is, it sucks next to my 5th gen. The refresh rate on the screen is atrocious, and it refuses to charge via USB. Meanwhile my 5G has a lovely colour screen and works with USB without a trouble.

That’s one way to view it.

On the other hand, it’s a first product in a new line for Apple who have an idealised notion of what they want it to achieve, but realise the technological limitations that exist before significant R&D is carried out. The first gen of any tech sucks in comparison to what comes later.

I’m a Mac user. I like using Macs, and I like using macOS. Apple are just as bad as MS for this shit.

I have an old MacBook Pro, as well as a pair of older minis. All three were left behind by macOS a few years ago, but if they weren’t all running Sonoma through OpenCore, they’d have an update in the App Store to upgrade to a new OS that Apple won’t let them run.

Living in a hard water area, I’d give it a month before I may as well have just bought a regular toilet.

Those parts were definitely played for laughs in this instance. I mean, it's not like there was anyone else using those stairs while he was typing.

My mother in law is just figuring this out. 74, lifelong Tory voter, lost her husband a little over a year ago, and struggling to understand why she's not able to just claim back the money she's paid in throughout her working life.

Because they don't want her to have that money. She's retired now, they couldn't give a shit whether she dies. In fact, they'd prefer it.

She's trying to apply for Attendance Allowance, and a variety of other benefits she may be entitled to, and she's getting rejected despite having a valid claim, because that's the system. Reject the first claim to discourage the second.

It's heartbreaking to see.

Brit here. I’m 43, earning more than I ever have and have basically no hope of ever owning a home.

I’m a huge tech nerd, but even I’m struggling to see the genuine use-case for VR.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d be overjoyed to be proven wrong, for someone to come out with a killer app and for VR to suddenly become essential, but right now it just feels like a way to get people to spend significant amounts of money paying for tech firms to do r&d. At most, I love the idea of having an enormous personal screen for movie watching, but I watch movies with my wife, so we’d have to spend a ridiculous amount of money to sit next to each other in our personal bubbles.
