  • If every border opened up and tons of people moved into Europe/USA and other wealthy countries they would inevitably collapse. Trust in the system would erode and it would all devolve into anarchy.

I doubt a lot of people would voluntarily move out of wealthy countries, those that want to already can, so it would be a one way transfer of people.

We already see a lot of tension in regards to migration and opening borders would make it 100 times worse

  • While this is a noble goal, in practice it'll just lead to the collapse of every modern nation. If we reach some utopian future where resources are no limit then it should work, but I very much doubt it would work right now

  • Haha, so many butthurt self-righteous people in this thread.

Why are you so toxic? I thought Lemmy was supposed to foster better discussions than Reddit but here you are name-calling and talking down to people.

Please consider treating people better in the future

  • I respect your stance and I agree with the subscription vs ads decision, websites need to make money somehow and I dont want to pay a subscription for everything either. I do run an adblocker but whitelist websites I use often and that dont have intrusive ads. It unfortunately affects websites that I visit quickly and dont come back to, they get a visitor but no advertisements. Its not a perfect solution but ads tend to be very intrusive on random websites.

  • Expectations have gotten higher. If they were still making 2d top down GTA games I don't think it'd take very long to make a new one. I also don't think many people would buy them.

Imagine how much more difficult GTA5 was to create compared to GTA1 or 2, it's the same for every long lived franchise.

People are spoiled for choice so devs have to entice people with something new, making the "same" game with the same graphics every time is a hard sell in today's market
