What irritates you the most with your own language?

  • "Lærerinne" in norwegian, but only if you're extremely old. Gendered language to is not that much used any more. "Teacher" is used for both male and female

  • I don't think you get where it is coming from. The comic makes fun of people who are so brainwashed they make up excuses even though they know they are wrong. We had a politican and a former minister of justice on the right side of the political spectrum, that wrote a book where he claimed that immigrants did X and Y. It was a lie, and when he was confronted with the blatant lies, he said "WELL, IT COULD'VE HAPPENED!"

  • It does not hallucinate, it guesses based on the model to make you think the text could be written by a human. Personal experience when I ask into summarize a text. It has errors in it, and sometimes it adds stuff to it. Same if you for instance ask it to make an alphabetic a list of X numbers of items. It may add random items.

  • It is not "a flaw", it is the way language learning models work. They try to replicate how humans write by guessing based on a language model. It has no knowledge of what is a fact or not, and that is why using LLMs to do research or use them as a search engine is both stupid and dangerous

  • Europeean countries are thick with anoke compared to where I live. I can walk the streets and never smell tobacco smoke (except the areas in Oslo where many people from other countries in europe or from the middle east lives).

    If you walk in the street in Paris, Rome, Berlin, Warzaw etc, people smoke more and you can smell it everywhere.
