  • Last time we had a filibuster proof majority was in 2009 for two different periods of two months each.

Essentially Republicans have either been in power or had enough power to stop Democrats for the entire voting lives of most people on this sub.

  • Since there's no serious answer: hexbear is a highly toxic instance that has been defederated by most other instances. However, their users will keep tabs on what's said on other instances, and they'll occasionally show up en masse with alt accounts to attack something that particularly enraged them.

Many of them are...not quite mentally stable.

They're probably the single largest base of tankie support. For them, America = bad, and anyone opposed to America = good. They pretend to care about communism etc but they're really just anti-American. Saying anything negative about China gets you instantly banned.

  • Their only real shot at staying housed without a bunch of other retired and poverty stricken roommates is to have already paid off a home. Their financial situation is very likely to never significantly improve again for the rest of their lives.

I dunno why you think old people who didn't save enough for retirement should automatically get to live a good life by making the housing market worse for younger people. When you're poor, life sucks, that's how it is.

What’s the sense in forcing them out of their home

To free up housing stock and keep liquidity and supply in the housing market. To undo the crystallization we see in the market with old people clutching to their houses with all their might. To reduce the overwhelming cost of purchasing ones first home.

Sometimes, when you can't afford something, you need to sell it and get a cheaper version. When that thing is a house, sometimes you need to move away. I see no reason why old people should be exempt from this.

  • What's trolling is throwing up random links and claiming they support your argument when they actually do the opposite. Did you even read that Harvard article? Its entire conclusion is that messaging and messaging ALONE is what matters with the ACA.

You are posting links that support what I'm saying, and claiming they say the opposite.

That part you quoted isn't even fucking RELEVANT to the conversation. It's just expository.

  • You "hey what should we do?"

    Me "here are some options"

    You "I don't like em"

Me "those are really the only options"

You "no bring me more, also you are stupid"

Yeah I'm just gonna report you for trolling at this point.
