To do so legally, Constitutional Convention. 2/3 of states would have to agree to let it go. And everyone would have to hammer out what happens to federal assets inside the state.

It's fairly widely known along the west coast. No one treats it like a serious movement, but like a "man, that would be nice" kind of thing.

Legally, a state can't secede really, but the other states could agree to let it go. It would require a Constitutional Convention, which would require 2/3 of states to agree to let it go.

It would probably make me distrust the prosecution, like if they're bringing this up they must not have much to go on. Like every time a black man is shot by police they bring up that he smoked weed.

I guess my main complaint is that it's insane to view it as equivalent to real CP, and it's harmful to waste any resources prosecuting it.

For Europeans, a quick primer on American uses of the term:

"Liberal" = socially liberal: gay marriage ok, trans people ok, immigrants ok

"Neoliberal" = economically liberal: laissez-faire, lower taxes on businesses, fewer worker protections

"Liberal" is left-wing. "Neoliberal" is right-wing. Sounds similar, very different. There are a lot of bad actors on lemmy who intentionally try to conflate the two. Don't let them confuse you.
