  • There are systems to intercept missiles in flight, the US has the Patriot for example. Taiwan also conveniently sits around 100 miles (160km) of the mainland, not far at all to be deploying ships, planes and other defense systems from the shore.

China has one major advantage too, hypersonic* missiles.

  • They recognize that there can only be one united China yes, so if they attacked Taiwan it would be considered an attack on the PRC. They're so slimy they would probably refuse the one china principle and declare the ROC something weird like "Non-administered territory" or something, like Bush did for "enemy combatant" which has become accepted in common discourse 20 years later it's crazy.

But likewise the PRC considers Taiwan to be theirs and would defend it. They also consider the people living in Taiwan to be their citizens, so I assume they would organize evacuations of the island in case of war. They probably have plans drawn up already to make it efficient. As for the ROC army... they would disband in 48 hours tops lol.

  • I'm not even sure the US can bomb Taiwan, it's so close to the shore that the PLA can defend it pretty efficiently I would think.

  • Definitely winning the war behaviour when you're helping make the rest of the world become xenophobic against your people

  • Well, it depends where in the country (it's big), but generally yeah their summers are milder than say western Europe and winters colder, it's only starting in Ukraine that winters start to get warmer.

  • Pretty funny. There was a winter last year too lol and Ukraine didn't make any advances there (although that winter was warmer than usual). Then there was the spring offensive where Ukraine also made no advances and the arguments were that they were waiting for snow to thaw etc etc. Now apparently this winter is going to be it and everything they wanted to end for the spring offensive are going to help them.

  • Add it to the unlabeled pile of things prolewiki wants to do

  • Russians discovering the concept of the Russian winter for the first time in their lives

  • But they were not simply joining NATO, were they? They are holding NATO troops and stockpiling NATO equipment and learning NATO tactics and -

sounds like preparing for war to me, especially when Russia has started the process to join NATO and has been dismissed every time, starting all the way back with the Soviet Union when NATO was first created. Not so much a defensive alliance if the USSR couldn't be a part of it from the start, is it?

By the way did you know NATO was created to fight the USSR in Europe? When that never came (because the USSR never cared to invade Europe, they literally had no plans for it), NATO instead turned to Operation Gladio, which is an umbrella term to categorize the literally hundreds of operations NATO-funded neo-nazis in Europe committed? It was especially violent in Italy, but they were not the only affected country. They hoped that by doing this they could -- and this is where history repeats itself -- get the Soviet Union to intervene in Europe, giving NATO casus belli for war.

Did you know the first NATO generals were nazis?

  • yeah they just spent the past 8 years goading Russia into a war and have admitted to it for no reason at all, absolutely no interest there, these are just things that randomly happen sometimes.

  • honestly you're a failed country if other powers can so easily tamper with your elections.

  • If you issue sanctions, aren't you the one who has to make sure you can enforce them? Like you can say "China can't buy from US-based companies" or "our companies are not allowed to purchase from China".

But this is unilateral, China doesn't give a fuck about your sanctions. You placed them on them, it's your responsibility to make sure they're enforced. "Evading" sanctions my ass they're just doing business as usual, not their problem, not their responsibility.

  • Oh no they have violated sanctions, how dare they

  • Tell Zelensky I just want to "talk"

  • Holy shit they're bringing back the corruption accusations

    It's over for Ukraine. Legit

  • I thought the Ukrainian was the first person at first, but I think they're the second person. The telltale sign was the ) lol.

They were having parties on the streets of Kiev while Russian-speaking Ukrainians in the Donbass were being kidnapped off the streets to get 2 months of training and then shipped off to the front. It's a big country, geographically speaking. And there's definitely a part of the country that's having it easy, I mean, they're so far from the front there might as well be peace for them

  • It's incredible how situational Russian humanity is to the liberal. Or any other nationality's humanity.

As long as they do what we want them to and move towards neoliberal capitalism, they're fine. They're great. They understand that the real world is difficult, just like we do, but they're doing what they need to.

As soon as they deviate from that and go the other way, they're savages who don't understand how the world has changed and they need to get on with the times. They become worthless, and anything we inflict on them is justified ad hoc. It's their fault. They don't understand why they need to bow down to nato for their own good.
