If you haven’t heard much about Obama’s comments, there’s a reason for that. He chose to deliver them at an event at which audio and video recordings were prohibited. If the idea was to disseminate this clarion call to the broader public, it was a weird choice of venues.
Obama never uttered the word “Trump” once. Throughout his remarks, it was clear what he was talking about. But he opted for broad generalities rather than specifics about who and what are threatening democracy.
It seems possible to me he wanted to address people who are involved in our government moreso that the public, but 🤷♂️
If they're just taking solace in it not hurting demographics that didn't vote for this I guess I can understand trying to find ways this isn't quite as awful.
But rural folks suffering is awful. I don't wanna root for suffering, or consider it a good thing.
Sorry if this has already been posted, this video is from a couple weeks ago, but I just saw it in my recommendations and thought folks might enjoy the win for Linux :)
Was curious what the connection was resulting in the lawsuit
Smith’s lawsuit claims Walls-Kaufman [a Jan 6 rioter] scuffled with her 35-year-old husband [the deceased] and struck him with his own police baton inside the Capitol, causing psychological and physical trauma that led to his suicide. Smith had no history of mental health problems before the Jan. 6 riot, but his mood and behavior changed after suffering a concussion, according to his wife and parents.
Walls-Kaufman, who lived near the Capitol, denies assaulting Smith. He says any injuries that the officer suffered on Jan. 6 occurred later in the day, when another rioter threw a pole that struck Smith around his head.
If you pull them down at an angle you can sometimes get a really good launch at someone :)
