  • I think brave (*search) let's you do the same thing with their goggles feature which let's users make custom search filters. I could be mistaken though

(and yes I know Brave as a company comes with baggage. Pretty much all of the search options do unfortunately :/)

Edit: I'm taking specifically about Brave search. I cant see any reason I'd ever want to use Brave browser frankly.

  • Thunderbird actually had a big resurgence a little while back, I use it as my mobile client šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø If I understand correctly it's not actually a directly Mozilla project anymore.

Personally I'm less bothered by the terms of use changes specifically than the bigger picture of mozilla consistently making choices that confuse or raise eyebrows with their core audience, letting their browser languish from a technical standpoint, and making confusing business choices that don't seem to help their financial future at all while paying executives huge salaries

  • Wasn't sure if there were better places to post this, feel free to cross-post if you know other fitting communities :)

  • What is *arrs?

  • Happy lemmy anniversary, we're glad you're here! šŸ˜Šā¤ļø

  • What is Usenet? (Obviously don't feel obligated to answer)

  • Permanently Deleted

    Jump
  • Cute!

    Feels furry-core lol

  • Huh. Well that seems pretty cool

  • What exactly is funkwhale? It looks like a federated music platform of some sort?

  • Hey, we're happy to have you! ā¤ļø

  • Tutanota has been pretty decent to me, though their android client is sometimes a little rough around the edges. Though never in a way that's caused problems for me or impaired usage, and it has a pretty enough interface.

They have a free plan if you're broke as shit like I am and are looking to switch from a free proton plan

  • That's pretty cool, I didn't know that about lemmy.zip

  • Grayjay can work that way (optionally) too. Its pretty cool there are now a number of great ways to interact with YouTube that give users more agency! 😊

Invidious is also a thing, though I haven't used it much

  • For YouTube on android you can also use grayjay or revanced to set subscriptions as your home page!

(This is about a section in the video, not just a random non-sequitur šŸ˜…)

  • I've done this with my pixelfed/Mastodon to post on lemmy for easier image hosting. I still can't get over how cool it is that you can essentially "post to 'reddit' from your 'twitter' or 'instagram'"

the Fediverse is fuckin neat lol

  • Thank you for the additional context, I've heard peoples criticisms of substack but hadn't heard any of this additional info

Ghost still seems cool though :)

  • There's a Foss dating app called alovoa, I think I saw something on the subreddit when I was taking a look at it again a while back about potentially implementing activitypub

  • Neat!! Thanks for sharing 😊
