  • So do I, but I can't even search for my own posts. It's frustrating.

  • The blog discussed progress on a "privacy-respecting search tool" that could be used to explore the entire Fediverse, a collection of independent social media networks that Mastodon connects to. That could make it possible to discover more content without depending on a "For You" algorithm mining user data.

Inshallah. Lack of search is my biggest gripe with Mastodon.

  • Hey, some people pay a lot of money to get kicked in their nuts.

  • Rarely, yes. Mostly I listen to free podcasts and music that I've paid for or otherwise acquired once. I don't understand paying a subscription for a lower quality version of that. Maybe there are a few live programs that are only available on SiriusXM, but that's a tenuous value proposition.

  • Setting aside that it's Donald Trump I think it's messed up that non-violent felons, or any felon really, lose rights just because they're felons. Why should anyone lose their right to vote or keep a firearm if neither of those things had anything to do with their crimes?

  • Because Loops isn't ready for primetime yet.

  • I'm not sure that a self hosted ActivityPub site with a single user could reasonably be called a social media site. I wonder how the law defines a social media site.

  • If you are the sole user on your own ActivityPub site running on your own server, can it even be called a social media site?

  • They're incarcerated while I presume you are not. Apart from all the involuntary aspects of prison life, inmates are not allowed to negotiate individually or organize for better pay and conditions. They cannot choose a different employer. The freedom to choose to go to the fire camp or stay within the prison under conditions designed to coerce them to work isn't really freedom. They're slaves.
