"I ain't got nothing to say to Donald Trump": May Day organizers say their message is for Americans

  • The article says it'd oversee "affordable housing construction" so we'll have to wait and see how they intend to make it affordable.

  • The fact that they're creating a crown corporation to build homes on public and private land is huge. This includes prefab and modular homes too. They're even committing to using Canadian lumber.

We cannot contunue to rely on capitulating to and deregulating private developers and expecting them to act in any way other than own self-interest. They have no incentive to bring down the cost of homes. It is now crystal clear that the neo-liberal solution does not work.

A crown corporation that exists to create housing rather than maximize shareholder value is a massive step in the right direction. Frankly, I'm surprised Carney is doing this but happy about it all the same.

I expect Carney to get pushback from Doug Ford who is firmly in the pocket of private real estate investors.

  • Can we stop these kinds of comments? It's exactly what MAGA will use to rile up violence against Canada. Who doesn't like a fun plumber video game but we're better off encouraging and helping Americans to organise.

  • You know what else didn't seem like reasonable goals in the current political climate? Dissolving USDA and global boycotts, resulting in absolutely tanking Tesla stock. Things change.

Organizing can make the change necessary to overcome usamerican fascism. Giving up and relying on the status quo will allow your "democracy" to die in silence.

  • Please keep your non-MAGA soldiers in service.

    Signed, a Canadian.

  • The URL was also changed, with the word “medal” changed to “deimedal”.

    What. The. Fuck.

  • There's at least hope with Carney that he'll come up with another environmental policy that the conservatives brain rotted by Poilievre won't get mad at.

  • It was kill the carbon tax or get Poilievre. Carbon taxes work and it's a shame that all the propagandised conservatives made carbon tax political suicide but here we are. I'd still take this over PP who wouldn't stop at the carbon tax.

  • I've tried that many different types of unicode formatting and still had posts removed. I looked at removed posts from reveddit and my jaw dropped at how much they are censoring. Most common for me was Lemmy and Canada related comments or links.

  • Wouldn't be that hard to archive and validate your posts and it's so easy on lemmy to leave a bad instance.

  • Moosehead is 100% Canadian and worker-owned. Good stuff.
