The U.S. has been trained to see protesting as a bad thing, so now we all just take the hits and blame neighbors whose political values don't line up with ours.
I think Apple is mostly to blame. Microsoft is trying to be more like Apple with windows 11 layout and they tried the whole tablet and pc compatibility thing with windows 8. If Apple wasn't so profitable I think windows might have tried to find their own style, but Apple does incredibly well with their marketing and people flock to Mac and iOS. Of course windows is rlstill the most commonly used OS, but Apple is slowly making their way to catching up. The only thing truly holding Apple back is their high price to make their product seem higher quality than it really is.
You can always try OpenOffice if libre office isn't working out for you. It has all the same suite options as libre office. I think it has auto save by default. I haven't used it in a while though.
They can still update the OS without changing the major change number and only update the minor change and patch numbers. I just feel that they update the main number for advertising purposes instead of doing it as a telltale sign of what kind of changes are in the OS.
Soon Zuckerberg will remove legs from real life so Meta's virtual reality will have more content than reality.
