  • My state has open primaries and I voted for Haley. Not because I support her but because giving her a boost in the primaries will be a good foil for Trump.

And, if in the small chance she gets the nom, she might actually be easier to beat than Trump. Not holding my breath on that one though.

  • Eh....having been on both sides of contracts like this.... typically a kill clause is sided heavily toward the one with money.

And even if it wasn't, Tesla has more money to drag out the fight in court long enough that the pie company won't be able to survive.

  • Iirc most laws do cover threats but aren't enforceable due in large part of the first amendment. So threats are only enforced when there is real, imminent danger to the victim.

Even in cases of threatening the president, you get a visit from the Secret Service and charges are rare.

I am not a lawyer. This is not legal advice.

  • I think it was an episode of Suits or something similar where a guy was divorcing his wife but wanted to hide certain legal assets but hide it from his wife.

The episode made it sound like he had to launder the money so it looked like, on paper, it didn't belong to him and it implied that it wasn't legal but they did it anyway. I can't remember the details but basically why I asked.

  • Slightly related question: is money laundering, in itself, illegal?

Like, say I have $1000 from my regular W-2 job, taxes paid.

I launder it through a bunch of accounts. Is that illegal?

Or is it the mixing with dirty funds that makes it illegal?

  • The stigma is that windows tries to shove one drive down your throat.

When I first set up windows 10 a while back, they told me that a Microsoft account was required to make it function. I sighed and followed along and then saw how every time I opened the start menu, it'd say "your files are out of sync! Activate OneDrive to make sure your files stay safe."

It's a dark pattern. If I wanted OneDrive, I'd install it.

Now I have to jump through hoops anytime I do a fresh windows install to ensure that it allows me to use a local account....which should fucking be the default.

  • I typically code a lot of back-end and processor intensive workloads. The issue I have with i5s is that they don't seem to be as "snappy" as i7s. I've worked with both for good long periods of time. When I had an i5 laptop, I had to off-load a good majority of my development to the cloud because I couldn't do containers and listen to music and run two monitors at the same time. I never had the same issue with i7 processors, even on a laptop.

  • With the conversations I'm having here, I'm leaning in the direction of integrated video (assuming I can get one with display port) and a discrete card just for AI work.

I use VirtualBox for VMs. I'm assuming there are instructions on how to give the card to the VM? My cursory google search came up with dubious results.
