  • In this situation, it can't be just one person. Several people need to call 911 with plate numbers and general descriptions.

"A bunch of people in masks waiting outside the court house. I think they have guns!"

If ICE has done their due diligence, they would have notified law enforcement that they are there in plain clothes. But methinks that these cosplayers wouldn't think to do that.

  • Even remembering IP addresses isn't a great because services can change IP addresses at any point.

As others have mentioned DNS, by its design, is decentralized...to a point. If you run your own DNS, you can't be an authority to .com addresses for example. Even that sentence has caveats.

Generally speaking you can run your own DNS that uses root DNS servers. MPAA and others have attempted to get those servers to stop pirate domains from being resolvable but they've essentially said "fuck off".

IMO, that's going to be the last battleground, at which point pirating will have no choice but to move to tor and/or to I2P.

  • The sad reality is that this is what their parents want and their children will live in it. They are being indoctrinated and will only know their "truth" upon graduating.

Then they'll pick up the mantle to fight the same culture war because that's what they were taught.

  • Or just ask the person organizing the meeting.

"I saw you added me to a meeting tomorrow. Can you provide a bit of context so I can come prepared?"

  • Given Musk's track record, I would not trust a Tesla suicide booth.

  • I'm used to journaling by topic but Logseq wants you to journal by date. So you start by journalling on the date saying you're working on x and then you link to x and then put details there.

It's a bit round about it you're not used to it.

  • I'm a chezmoi user and I'll be honest: as powerful as it is, it's way too clunky to get right. I spend too much time configuring and then am too worried I'll mess it up if I need to add or remove anything.

I'm going to give stow a try to see if it fits my workflow better.

  • Screen2Gif is super useful when trying to show someone how to do something without doing a zoom or screen share. And gifs post in slack really well.

  • I can second logseq but it has a bit of a steep learning curve. Not impossible but you have to learn how logseq wants you to use their software and then it becomes powerful.

  • Wasn't the cardassian holographic doctor on Doogie Howser?

  • I think it's very context dependent.

Pharmacists often recognize me and I'd rather they didn't. But I get it. I'm there almost every week for something.

My favorite bubble tea place now recognizes the car I drive so they will prepare my tea as I'm parking and it's ready by the time I get to the counter. I did tell them that on occasion I'll order something different but I appreciated it nonetheless.

  • We already know he lies on air. I'm not saying he's lying but him doing so to get more people to buy his shitty products is very plausible.

  • Close. You can't be tried at the federal level. You can be tried at the state level (specifically New York) but even if you are convicted, judges will essentially commute your sentence.

  • .world admins subscribe to a "both sides are the same" approach and it's simply not compatible with folks who are actively engaged in, let's say, supporting and defending democracy.

This community is on .world so their rules apply. Your instance is pretty chill.

  • It's only the same dynamic if shooters are running into legislative buildings.

But they (the alt right) are assassinating politicians who are at home or alone.

    Checks instance name

    We'll leave it at that

  • Just normal late stage capitalism

  • My understanding is that 1-800-gambler is how casinos were able to be legalized in Maryland. Instead of paying taxes, casinos have to pay some fixed cost to fund anti-gambling programs.

I'm gonna take a stab in the dark that this billboard is just as effective as any program that is funded by the casino industry.
